Some thoughts from 24/7 Jerry Meyer on Burnett and Branson Podziemski in his latest mailbag

https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Meyers-Mailbag-LSU-Corey-Floyd-Jr-Brandin-Podziemski-Charles-Bediako-Nimari-Burnett-159275631/Amp/

Sometimes recruiting experts have insight.  Sometimes they pick two schools from a transfers original top 5 and their local state school and call it insight.

Yeah, Meyer isn't a guy to look to for insight. His CB picks almost always mirror the local expert. Unfortunately it seems many of the more connected 247 guys moved on.

The 247 hoops (and others) shuffling has carried over into football. Barton Simmons, the 247 National Football Recruiting Director, recently took a Director of Player Personnel position, on Clark Lea's staff.

New people and new relationships will develop, as will turnover with new opportunities with teams, leagues, etc... Eric Bossi was more of a Midwest Recruiting person, based in K.C., and was elevated to a national level now moving over to 247 etc...

Tall white kid with a talented brother. I feel like we typically don't do well with those.  ;D

In all seriousness, sounds like a good one to watch. All the right programs are showing interest in him.

I saw that the #5 recruit in the class of '23 (Kwame Evans) attends Baltimore Polytechnic, which is Justin Lewis's alma mater.  Anybody know if those two have a connection that could help in recruiting?

I know that Jonas Aidoo is going up the recruiting charts, but watching videos on him makes me wonder if we have a big time sleeper recruit.  A bit under the radar.  He can really move and appears to have good hands for a big man.  I could totally see Garcia at the 4 and Aidoo at the 5 with both more or less playing a 4 roll.  Aidoo looks a bit wider in the smolders than Garcia did/does.

Can Garcia play a 3, so that Lewis can play a 4 or 5 with all thee on the court at times?

I know, relax, getting ahead of myself.

Will a 6’11” guy who maybe gets to ~15 and 9....shoots 40% from deep stick around for a 2nd season?

That's a bit of the challenge. When you play Lewis and Garcia together, which you can, you have to have good guard play.

In the the pre 3 point era , teams would regularly try to develop lineups as you propose above.

If you are Frank Kaminsky you stick around for 4 years.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Yes and all 3 of these guys could hit 3s at a decent rate. We know two have the ability. Aidoo has a decent stroke and can handle the ball some. So he might be able to as well. The way Theo’s shot has developed makes me think someone on the staff knows how to work on shooting with bigs. I am amazed at Theo from the line this year.

At this point I am assuming Garcia is back. That could change. Or he could make the jump even if he is not a guaranteed 1st round pick.

He didn't put up any real numbers until his junior year, though, so it's not like he made a tough decision 3 times.

For us non-Wisconsin residents, any mention of his recruitment process?

Don't think MU has a snowball's chance here, given the AAU team.

He's taking his time and waiting until after the HS season.  Aside from MU, he has offers from Kentucky and Kansas.  The article talks about his high BBall IQ, his 4.0 grade point, his ultra-competitiveness ("don't bet against me"), and how he switched from baseball for hoops in 8th grade.  No real talk about his college decision making process or what he's looking for in a college.

He looks a bit like Sam Hauser. I suspect he starts at MU and finishes at Virginia!
