Lands is from La Porte, Indiana. He will play with Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, CA this year. Previously Stan Johnson recruited Namari Burnett and Coleman Hawkins there. (Justin Gainey of course was an assistant at Santa Clara and U of A recruiting this geography)

While Jeremy Rusotti and Philippe Doherty are still around. Former Marquette assistant, Mark Phelps is the new head coach at Prolific Prep. He is their 3rd coach in three seasons. Joey Fuca amicably stepped down after an elite season to spend more time with his young family.
Speaking of Prolific Prep. One of their illustrious grads we were recruiting is having a very good year

Herman...remember when you agreed not to discuss Jeenathan if he didn't chose MU????
Especially in the recruiting thread.

Well how do you do,  Mr. Aidoo?

I was expecting his rankings to jump but not that much. Hopefully he lives up to the billing

With Aidoo's big jump, Rivals has moved MU up to #26 nationally, 4th in the Big East (behind Nova, Creighton and DePaul).

Juwan Howard really has it going at Michigan - 11-0, just routed UW and the #1 recruiting class next year.

Marquette (among many others) have reached out to Nimari Burnett:

For the recruiting gurus, was MU a close runner-up for his services in the first go-around?
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

No - I think we were eliminated when he cut his list to 10.

I think it was his top 5 but maybe im wrong. FWIW, Carton cut us from his final list but still ended up here. If Burnett wants to come home,  we have a good shot

I know we weren't in his final 5 — they were Michigan, Oregon, Texas Tech, Alabama and Louisville.

He wants to stay closer to home, I see DePaul, MU and Illinois,  DePaul seems to get lots of transfers.  MU can offer him a starting spot next
to Carton.  Do not see much competition as of now.

He prepped out west in Napa.  When I was out there two summers ago, I met someone who was into the prep hoops scene and he thought at the time Marquette had a strong chance to get him.  I was told he really liked Wojo and the staff.  The staff has changed quite a bit since then, of course.  I took it with a grain of salt then and still do but maybe there's a chance.

We were in his final 6, but his released final 3 was Ohio State, Michigan, and Indiana.

I know we weren't in Burnett's final 5, that was Bama, Michigan, Louisville, Oregon and Texas Tech, I'm not sure if we were in his final 10.

Part of Carton's situation IIRC was that out of high school he wanted the huge B1G football school experience and his final list reflected that. When he didn't enjoy his experience at Ohio State, I think his priorities completely changed and that worked in our favor.

I have no knowledge on this, but Burnett could be a similar situation. His final list were all large public football schools far from home. After getting a taste of that life, it's possible none of his final 5 will be on his list this time around because his priorities have changed. Here's hoping.

Wonder if he recruited him at Arizona, who was also in his top 12.

I wonder if Carton should almost be the 'lead recruiter' on Burnett.  "Hey man, I thought going to a big school was what I wanted and it definitely wasn't a fit for me.  That's what I went to MU.  Come ball with me."

How did we miss on 4 star Corey Floyd Jr?  He just signed with UCONN.

His dad was an mu recruit in late 80s(?)
Ultimately was not admitted due to academics;went to Hutchinson; ended up at providence
Think I heard he became a police officer back in Jersey

He was a Dukiet recruit and was considered a real coup for Dukiet and staff at the time. Then a prop 48 casualty.  It was a major blow to Dukiet losing him that he never recovered from. Not that things were going terribly well, but at the time getting Floyd was considered a glimmer of hope.

Turns out he wasn't as good as advertised.

Edit- MU wouldn't admit him.  I thought he was going to be a prop 48 and chose JUCO route instead.   Wasn't the case.
