Big Papi

As a nojo backer, I think his recruiting is very good.  Can't get everyone.  Hunter will be a stud but not concerned as incoming recruits are all probably very good.  Definitely won't lose any sleep over it.  Any lost sleep should be over his in game coaching, management and adjustments.

Marquette recruited Hunter as hard as anyone in the class.

So why did they not offer sooner?

So why did they not offer sooner?

Because he was a late bloomer. Iowa State offered him around the same time MU did.

Sweet!  What were some of the other Iowa State recruits rankings?

Sorry mods, if you need to switch this and the last post to the super bar I get it.  I just love Iowa St. recruiting info and couldn't help myself.

Jesus dude, take it easy.  There's hardly any recruiting news right now, and some people might be interested to know that a local kid is moving up the ranks.  Especially one who, upon receiving Marquette's scholarship offer, logged onto Amazon and bought Wojo a big green weenie.

Shooter McGavin

Sweet, where is the local recruiting thread in the super bar I will follow it.

I'm all for a good Wojo shading, but if Marquette wanted Hunter, he'd be committed. They clearly valued other prospects more, not Hunter turning them down

The person I talk to has contacts not only with Marquette, but with St. Catherine's.  Tyrese thought Iowa State was the better fit despite Marquette recruiting him as a priority.

This is how recruiting goes, people.  Coaches can put all the effort they want into recruiting a kid...sometimes that kid picks somewhere else.  It doesn't mean they didn't try.  It just means a teenager made a decision they thought was best for them.

This is correct could be even reasons we could think are stupid but could be important to him. Big campus University vs small university, no football vs football, urban big city vs small city rural feel. Might have thought he could have playing time right away in ISU.

Usually it goes something like this:  We have starting playing time at point and they (Marquette) won't with Carton; your a one or two and done NBA prospect, you don't want to sit for a year...

A good friend is a HC of a powerhouse XC program...no football school. He was fuming one day after his top target chose a Big 12 program, last place in the conference year, and cited how much fun he had at a football game as being the reason. I remember a kid admitted to every Ivy school choosing Alabama, citing football and more "traditional" college experience. Kids have their reasons and often it's something a coach just can't control.

Wojo never gets good recruits. He sucks. Happy New Year!

Caleb Mills (Houston Sophmore pre-season AAC PoY) just entered the transfer portal.  I seem to remember Marquette recruiting him heavily. Do we have a shot?

He is transferring to be closer to home.  Each of the Tobacco Road schools are in on him.  Very unlikely.

Him and Oscar Tshiebwe in a 24-hour span entering the portal is crazy.

Add Nimari Burnett to the mix as well. 5-star Chicago kid we were in on early.

Jamo

If I hear "looking to move closer to home" for Nimari I will just assume Scholl has started drafting up the Wojo extension.
