My bad but for the record that quote was something he'd posted in this thread

1st crystal ball for Ohio State with a confidence of 7.  Make of it what you will.
Yeah, because we recently saw how that can go

Looks like Ohio State for Gayle. Crystal Ball & Futurecast are at 100%, 10/10 for tOSU. With an announcement coming Friday, seems likely they know something.

Makes sense. Ohio St. Has been recruiting him since his Freshman year. We'll see.

Hard to imagine a NY kid committing to Marquette without taking a visit here.

We really need recruiting visits to be approved again. Everyone is playing under the same rules but I think a lot of the strength of our pitch comes during visits.

Sy and Jake got us in this game but agree on in person visits for MU. MU local game, especially MKE/WI and Chicago, not there although Minne is which has been strong. So at 33% local advantage. Zoom is not a replacement.

Crystal Ball & Futurecast are meaningless.  Where did he put our logo on his announcement?

Ahh.  We're out.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Zoom could help us really craft the image of MU we want recruits to see and could really help bring kids to Milwaukee.

A friend at school was surprised when he ended up on campus for Freshman Orientation. He came to MU sight unseen because he had seen campus in the movie Tommy Boy (which was filmed at the University of Toronto St George).

Getting kids hype about playing at a basketball-first university, playing games in an NBA stadium, and on an urban campus is easy to tell a story around. I think that may be better than the reality of landing at Mitchell "International" and driving into Milwaukee. If a kid is from NYC, Milwaukee feels like Peoria.

Let's trick them by making Bradford Beach look like Miami Beach while we're at it.  (Anyone with better photoshopping skills then me wish to take this on?)

The kid is from north of Buffalo on the Canadian border, not NYC. Pretty sure MKE is already looking like Miami Beach to him without the Zoom fluffing.

Pretty sure Buffalo is actually slightly south of Milwaukee on Lattitude so weather is probably the same not quite sure we come off as Miami Beach there. But we are about 300k larger in DMA so there's that.

IIRC, average temperatures are about the same but Buffalo gets more snow

40 inches more: 93.4 versus 52.4. MKE is Miami Beach.

The Big East

When MU gets recruits on campus, the reception has historically been positive .

We have playing time available and are in an elite conference .

Winning more will help us secure the top prospects.

back-in-the-day McGuire had a pipeline to NYC talent. Al chose rather than recruited. However, I digress before Fluffy hammers me for living in the past.

I'm not going to hammer you for living in the past, but whatever pipeline Al had 45-50 years ago is completely irrelevant to today.  Hell, Buzz's Juco pipeline from ten years ago isn't even relevant any longer.

Virtually identical in terms of seasonal length & headline temperatures, but having grown up in Buffalo, the Milwaukee wind cuts through you like a knife in a way that just doesn't really exist in WNY (or at least not with the same frequency). Definitely less snow in MKE.

I am pretty sure that a high majority of recruits that visited MU decided to go elsewhere.
