Which iteration?  There were a few while Marquette was in it.  The current iteration of the A-10 isn't as good as the 2013 version

CUSA when Marquette was in it was better than the A-10 now, but both were a clear step behind the true top leagues. From a league/program perspective, Dayton is closer to MU 2003 than any iteration of Marquette in the Big East.

lol what a bunch of salty bitches

Give Dayton their due and move on.

So moving forward I think we are down to 3 outstanding offers in the 2021 class. Podziemiski, Etienne, and Aidoo. You've got to land at least one of Etienne/Aidoo to feel okay about this case. I think you've got to land both Podziemiski and one of Etienne/Aidoo to feel good about this class. The caveat of course being that if instant transfers become a thing, the whole landscape of recruiting changes and high school recruits becomes a lot less important than it used to be.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Heard Podz dream school was UK, who knows where he sits in their priority. Seems like they have 1 pg commit and 2 other CG ( Hunter Sallis, Jaden Hardy) offers out now, both top 10 guys. Probably have to figure what they are doing first.

I would have found it shocking if Holmes ends up at Marquette. We have three very high quality forwards in Justin Fields, Oso and Dawson Garcia. And we have a returner who may start.

Under these circumstances, he's fighting for playing time.

Yes, I know, if you want to be the best, you compete against the best in games and in practice. But that's a traffic jam. By contrast, he can go to that tech school in Dayton and start. He'll be the stud of a mid-Major program in a mid-major conference.

Cal also represents a program that he can start immediately. How far he goes is anyone's guess.

If he's really as good as some think, he needs to be at Marquette or Arizona. But I doubt that will happen.

Players don't really need to be at high majors any longer. They can get good coaching at all sorts of places. And Grant is a good coach.

Bigger aspect is, he wants to be a 3, and has emphasized that is important to him in his decision process. Right now his game, especially on defense, says 4/5.

Dayton can tell him they will feature him as a 3, and with their roster it can appear honest. Much harder for us or Arizona to make that sell. We/Zona are probably also more honest in saying, "If you want to play the 3, you need to improve your defense."

what Dayton says in recruiting is conjecture. Bottom line is this kid is rated considerably higher than Lewis and would have been a great sign. However, I'd put Mac Etienne as the 'need' for '21.

No rush with the pandemic.  If Etienne or Aidoo want to commit, you take them, but you can afford to wait until spring for 2021 recruiting class and transfers.  Easy to make a mistake if they aren't patient.

A feature article in today's AZ Star said that UA would not release the info relating to the charges against it with the usual excuses.Keeping them is not the usual reaction.  Unless there is some very strange new information, they could be in for record breaking sanctions. Only one surprise -- Coach Miller says he knew nothing about any irregularity!!!

Ohio State quarterback?

I have been watching too much THE Ohio State University football lately.

Justin Lewis is just going to have to change his name. That's all there is to it.    ;D

I do argue though that a recruit is better off in the Big East, the BIG or the ACC than he would be in the A10. You're competing against the best most nights and the robustness of the competition is, all things being equal, a better preparation for the Show.

Just my IMO, but C-USA Basketball (1995 - 2005) was as good as any other top basketball conference during the era.  Marquette was in the Final Four in 2003; Louisville had a Final Four, Elite Eight and a few Sweet 16s; Cincinnati had an Elite 8 and a few Sweet 16s; UAB made a Sweet 16; Memphis and Charlotte were regular tournament competitors; the league regularly had top seeds and top-ranked teams, which was why many ended up getting poached by the Big East (Marquette, Louisville, Cincinnati).

C-USA (95-05) was better than the A10 is now, for sure.  However, I would also argue that this incarnation of C-USA was better than the present AAC is now as well.

The CUSA of that era was good no doubt, but it was well behind the ACC, B10 and BE.

I know top 10 is super early, but still will be nice to know where we stand with 1 of the 2 top centers left for us.
