Louisville continues to suffer dramatically from the weight of NCAA sanctions

What do you want?  They got rid of the coach who was the main problem and made a good coaching hire. Are they supposed to suffer for some length of time?

Louisville?  Yes.  Eternity would be my minimum sentence.  But I think a double eternity sentence would be fair.

It did not hurt them when the coach got in trouble for having a dalliance in a restaurant. It did not hurt them when they got caught hiring hookers for visits. They just keep marching on no matter what they do.

This is so ignorant.  They got caught paying a recruit $100k. They will be punished. They chose to be in the NCAA and know the rules.

Louisville, kansas n others deserve a 1 yr death penalty if the ncaa has any integrity n truly wants to clean up the ncaas

I think that a length of time equivalent to the length of time they benefited would be fair.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Any punishment that does not include a postseason ban doesn't really have teeth. I'm not advocating for overly harsh penalties, but scholarship reductions, recruiting limitations, those don't seem to have any real impact on programs. I guess it's their choice, but the simple reality is programs only tangibly suffer consequence when the postseason is on the line.

The one that always cracks me up is vacating wins. Like we all just forgot Derrick rose and Memphis were in the championship game

There are a lot more middle of the road Power 6 teams (like MU) than there are elites (like Louisville). Their “votes” all count the same. If the middle of the roaders wanted schools like Louisville, Kansas, Arizona, etc., to get death penalty like punishments they would. Bottom line, it’s not good for business.

It’s not ignorant. I just don’t think that schools should be punished that severely for something that in the grand scheme of things isn’t that big of a deal.

Anyone up for continuing this in the NCAA Thread rather than the Recruiting one?

Not that big of deal!!! It's a major violation of NCAA rules.  Louisville is part of the organization that made the rules. They can leave the NCAA any time they want to. Should MU be able to play with 9 foot baskets? If every school is going to play by their own rules,  why not?

That is a well reasoned and logical response.  I stand corrected.

I think we are a little smarter after reading that.

When it comes to this it is the power 5 teams. The big football conferences would be happy to start their own NCAA type tournament and leave the Big East out. It is the power five conferences threatening to go out on their own that is limiting NCAA's enforcement powers.

Really I just don’t view it as a big deal that requires years long ramifications.

So what is the dollar limit becomes a big deal? It's a violation that Louisville signed up for. There's no requirement for Louisville to be in the NCAA.

I mean the NCAA gave them the punishment. So what are you bitching about?
