Jordan Longino, guard from Pennsylvania, is set to announce on Thursday.  Marquette offered in March but all signs indicate Villanova is the school to beat.  Plan accordingly

I guess where I was going with this is that Coach Drew has been at Baylor for 17 years & Wojo has been with Marquette for 6 years.  For 17 years, that is not necessarily a track record that would get such an impressive recruiting class.

Drew has always been a good recruiter.  Baylor is a place that has never really had a good basketball team and he built that program back from an absolute disaster.  And he's still not even 50 years old.

I'd love to have him as MU's coach.

Agree 100%.

When Al started bringing in blue chip recruits jealous fans of other programs suspected foul play. The losers always do. It makes the losses go down easier.

I have no idea whether Baylor's recent run of recruiting success is the result of anything shady, and I haven't suggested anything like that. But you'd have to be willfully ignorant to chalk it up as mere jealousy or if you fail to see why eyebrows are raised.
Scott Drew has been suspended and his program has had scholarships reduced and faced other penalties over recruiting violations. His peers have consistently ranked him as one of the dirtiest coaches in the game. And obviously the Baylor athletic department has a terrible record dating back decades.
This is what happens when a proven cheater and a program with a history of cheating has a flurry of recruiting success.

And while you may be 100% on board with Scott Drew, I'd guess there's close to a 0% chance Marquette hires a guy like him.

Marquette is in Bensley Joseph's top 5

I have a feeling if we get him, then we are out on Hunter.

I also have a feeling he stays in the Northeast.

Would the staff take both him and Tyrese, or would one committing mean that the other isn't coming?  Always be recruiting, and it is a guards game, but both Joseph and Hunter are 6-1 165 lb PG's that have floated in and out of the top 100.  Would think that both, on top of Kam, would be a tough sell.

I think it's one or the other, and I would personally rather have Hunter. Joseph wouldn't be a bad take at all but I have a feeling he might end up at Providence. I don't have any connections, just my thoughts

Sounds like Van Der Heijden trending to Louisville per Brian Snow. Just put in CB at 7 confidence along with another national 247 writer

It's not like it's random college fans who think Scott Drew is a cheater.  He's constantly one of the top vote getters in Parrish and Norlander's "Candid Coaches" polls on "Which coach are you most sure is cheating?"

Frenns Liquor Depot

I don't know why the 'he cheats' thing is a thing.

Newsflash - if you enjoy college basketball.  The top 30 programs from the past five years cheated.  Maybe some did it directly, maybe others did it through a shoe company.  But they all did it.

Everyone drives 5 over the speed limit, so what's the big deal about that guy doing 110 down Lake Shore Drive at rush hour?

JWags85

Also, of note, Baylor under Drew doesn't really send guys to the NBA. Only 6 guys drafted in his tenure, and only one of those was a 1st rounder he brought in (the other was Ekpe Udoh who only played a year as a transfer). Not that it's the assured mark of a great program, but it's interesting when looking at their attractiveness to top recruits

To me its more a question of elegance.  Do you think the banker that embezzles (K, Cal, etc) is any better than the ham handed criminal (wade)

To me it's more a question of felons vs petty criminals.
I'm sure every major program does a little rule bending here or there. But some jaywalk or roll through stop signs when no one is looking, while others are mugging grannies in dark alleys or dealing heroin in the high school parking lot.
Just saying "they all cheat, so who cares" belies an important distinction here.

Got it.

We R Final Four

I think if Hunter does in fact take his time and go on multiple school visits as he stated he would, there is a good chance he will get passed up by the bird in the hand theory.

Don't see it happening with Bensley. We just don't seem to do much in New England. Was trying to think of kids who were recruited there - Derrick played in CT and Lazar was at Notre Dame Prep in MA, even though they were both from elsewhere. Any others come to mind?
