While they certainly have talent and get their share of former top 100s I do think they still get more out of player than most schools do.

I don't disagree.  Bo was a very good teacher and Gard seems to be stepping up his game.

But when they have won, they have had talent.  And have by and large approached recruiting in a similar manner when they have the openings.

But when they do have a larger number of openings, they pretty much do the same thing.  And the idea that they don't have talent and are simply "coached up" is largely a myth.

FWIW; according to 247 Wisconsin offered 15 players in the 2020 class. They signed 6 players

MU offered 34 players & signed 3

Thank you.  When did UW player's commit versus MU's players?

By and large their system since Bo took over has taken average talent and made them good and has taken "great" talent (like a Brian Butch who was a McDonald's All American) and made them good. The exception of course came when Bo got a little more athleticism than he typically had in Dekker and struck gold in signing a big stiff who developed into the best player in college basketball.

According to 247:

MU:
Nov '19 - Dawson
September '19- Oso
July '19 - Lewis

UW:
Nov '18 - Bowman
June '19 - Davis brothers
August '19 - Gilmore
September '19 - Crowl
September '19 - Carlson

UW recruiting is a little different from ours. Primarily some of the best players in the state have UW as their dream school. Grew up watching and even attending games. UW identifies these kids and also get a great feel on how they are leaning by talking to family and their coaches.

OK thanks!  I guess that means I should revisit my initial statement.

On top of that it seems like Madison really only hits the upper Midwest/Great lakes region hard.  Only one player on their roster from somewhere other than WI, MN, and OH.  We've got CA, AZ, MD, NY, Ontario, had UT last year, even throw in Nigeria if we're counting Ike (although I guess he'd technically only be MI).  When you're recruiting all these areas and not just closer to home you're going to have more offers out there.

Not saying that Madison wouldn't take someone from further away.  Ford is from GA and they had the kid from Belgium a few years back.  Just that Wojo is more comfortable recruiting outside his own backyard.

You're dead on about Kaminsky and right about Butch.

But their 05 & 06 classes were both ranked 20 in the country via 247.

But for the most part they've brought in 2 four stars a year since 2005 (I think a couple years they had 1 or zero) so I'd say they've recruited exactly to the success they've had outside of the diamond in the rough with Kaminsky (and to a lesser extent Happ since he was a 3 star)

If Wojceichowski can't close the deal by having Podziemski over for some pierogis and kielbasa w/ sauerkraut then he missed an opportunity. Maybe he could talk Podziemski into being the next in the line of the Krzyzewski to Wojceichowski coaching tree some day.

Any indication Marquette is still looking at anyone besides a potential Mane surprise for the 2 open scholarships?

At the very least, still could use a project or grad transfer big, IMO!

Hoping they pursue Yor Anei, the big transferring from OK St with two years left. He fits perfectly..MU had contact out of HS. Would be eligible this year due to the OK ST postseason ban.

So we are now in active dialogue with a promising local prospect. That is good news.

Also intriguing that Jake Presutti and Swaggy Du are involved. That could be a nice tag team to get this recruit over the goal line.

Still involved with Mac Etienne, who is a 50/50 for reclassification to 2020

I know we are hoping for a commitment soon.
However, I wonder if this is the year when the majority of kids sign in the spring vs. signing this fall.
You may be able to take official visits, if you wait until spring. I would think most players would want to be wined and dined on official visits. The only reason to commit now, is that you are worried the scholarship might be filled by someone else. That is not much of an issue when a school has several scholarship openings.
