Well, they're a projected top 10 team on most services for next year so maybe that's not the worst thing you could say about him. Didn't see much left hand usage.

Oh, it wasn't an insult.  He just looks like one of their guys.  Nice jump shot, making good decisions, very athletic.

He does look very traditional, Hards.

Pretty sure Duane Wilson was over 50% from 3 in HS. Doesn't always translate sadly

Yep. I don't want to say Duane was a "disappointing" player for Marquette, because he wasn't. A good kid and leader who played through injuries, and I'm glad we had him. But I was a little disappointed when he was here that he never came close to flashing the 3-point form he showed in HS. We could have really used some great shooting from him.

Yeah he had a few games especially his RS Freshman year where I thought we had a real star in the making. Shame.

Agreed, but based on form I think it will translate for this kid.

I doubt he'll be near 50% but that form looks repeatable.

You just can't stop yourself from being a condescending tool. Not everyone is like you, to where they spend the majority of their day on Scoop.

I'm fine being a condescending tool. No problem admitting it. You are definitely not that though. Mr. "While I was dunking and thus know all there is to know about basketball, you were playing the tuba and should thus refrain from discussing basketball because you can't possibly know anything about the sport." Nope. Not a condescending tool at all.

Not to mention FIVE(!) bans from this site. Lol!

MU has done a virtual visit

49% from 3!! Holy crap

He fits perfectly with the new recruiting paradigm, tall with the length of an even taller guy, great shooter, and able to play several positions.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Wonder if MU might get involved here...

Texas A&M, Iowa, Cincy, Providence and Rutgers had also offered him in addition to others before he committed to Wake

Wasn't April 26th the day the great Manes planned to announce his decree?

I assume this is about Mane. He declared for the NBA Draft & his decision timeline is wide open. The plan was always to take more visits, so seems like he's just waiting to see if he can do that along with what NBA feedback he gets.

Class of 2021 PG Ryan Conway will be announcing his commitment May 2. Has Marquette in his final 6, along with Seton Hall, Providence, Rutgers, Stanford and Vanderbilt.

If Conway commits to us, does that essentially mean we move on from Tyrese Hunter?

I doubt Conway is coming to MU, I think Hunter is the play here at point.

FWIW, Mark Miller has Crystal Bowled Conway to Seton Hall.

With Hunter having said MU is his dream school, and now having held an offer for several months - I wonder what the delay is.  Obviously it is in Hunter's best interest to see what the best situation for him is, but I would think at some point Wojo and Co would move on to other targets.  I certainly don't expect Marquette to land Conway, but if they did - for example - one would think that would impact Hunter.  I doubt MU's offer to Conway isn't solid if Marquette made his final 6.

I have not met Tyrese's older brother (whom he lives with), but I've gotten the impression that he is the "handler" (that is, the family member or coach that needs to be won over to get the recruit to commit).  From what I've heard, he sounds like a smart guy who is pushing patience, probably to wait until the AAU season is over, if it ever happens.

I haven't been able to see or touch base with any of the basketball team since we began the quarantine, but the maturity they all expressed with regards to the cancellation of the tournament (there was an excellent JournalTimes piece on this) reflects well on Coach Bennett and the future prospects of players on the team, namely Hunter and McGee.  Tyrese is a mature young man, and he wont make a rash decision.  The quarantine has definitely slowed that process.

Could you imagine if Mickey Crowe played in the modern era? Would have been interesting to see how he would have fared with a 3 point line and shot clock.

I know he had some personal issues that kept him from reaching his potential.

His brother is a Theology instructor at MU.

Saw him play a couple times.  Pete Maravich lite, but he was something else.  Could not play a lick of defense though.

Terry left MU a few years back. Had him for a class my senior year, great guy. Fun to talk ball with as well.
