Absolutely need a high level guard.  Will be lising Chartouney and im not sure we will have a guard that can dribble.
Markus good shooter, horrible handle.
Not sure Elliott is tge sure handed guard we need.  Koby will be key.  Akanno by all acounts projects as a project.  Id look for a grad transfer at the guard combo spot.  Id take a hs kid, but he needs to be high level n ready to support on day one.  Akanno is a project dont need another in this class. Between firings, decommits, etc hopefully one becomes available.

Koby can handle. He's better than JC, IMO. At least offensively. He was bad defensively at Utah State but the talent is there

For people more connected than I will ever be:

Any word on how Strawther's visit went?

Were there other recruits at the game from Phenom?

Did Jalen Johnson state that Marquette is now his preferred school after the victory over the Badgers?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I sat near Strawther during the MU game. He was standing for most of the second half and seemed to be enjoying himself. A couple of sweater vests kept talking to him saying he needed to come to MU. Not sure if that helps or hurts

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I am a bit more of the "less is more" on alums talking to a kid. Let them enjoy the experience as created by Wojo and the team. I sure as heck don't want a sweater vest talking down to me now (and I'm in my 30s), much less when I was in my teens.

From what I overheard it was all good natured, no talking down or mandates. I think it depends on the recruit,  some would love it,  some hate it,  and it would have no impact on others

I don't think any of the Nicolet kids were there, some tourney in DC.

I can't see a Wisconsin scenario for a one and done, too much of a risk. At least Wojo has a track record of some sort.  Not holding my breath though.

I think these kids can handle it.  But I wouldn't personally 'recruit' them.  Hope he enjoyed his visit.

You should have stepped in and worked the order.

But did we bring him Arby's?  Or is that illegal?

Only if there's extra sauce.

I apologize if I came off as snarky about overbearing alums. I still think it is a weird line that needs to be navigated carefully.

Hopefully we hear something from Strawther about the visit (or committing to Marquette) soon. Would love to get a good jump on the 2020 class, especially since we are going to have a super slow week.

More importantly with a week off, where are the coaches going this week?  Wheels up.

2020, with Markus, Sam and Morrow leaving, creates a great opportunity to slot in a bunch of guys who want to play together.  Maybe close to home, even.  I think Wojo once intimated that this might be something he was working on.  Guess we'll see.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

I'm checking out 2020 recruit Ethan Morton next week.  His HS (Butler, my alma mater) is playing my neighborhood HS (Mt. Lebanon).  I'll report back with my thoughts on his game, although I'm not holding out a ton of hope on landing him.  He's taken a few of his official visits already, and Michigan was his latest offer.  Regardless, I'll wear a Marquette sweatshirt and slip a few Beef n' Cheddars in his dad's coat pocket.

Visited Lynn Greer today.

Is he related to the former Milwaukee Bucks player?

Didn't he schedule an official visit with us at some point?

Greer's father played for the Bucks for a season or two.   He was a big time player for John Chaney at Temple.

Of course the father playing for the Bucks didn't really work out that well for MU with Nico.
