Oddly this gives me hope. It may be flawed logic, but my assumption is that if he can lead the team in minutes despite a horrendous offensive game, maybe his defense is that good. That's complete speculation with no basis in fact but maybe. Hopefully this kind of offense is first game jitters and not his norm.

Yeah I think it's more likely that at the high school level you don't have a ton of kids on your roster that are high major D1 prospects, and sometimes those high major D1 prospects have an off night because they're 15-18 year old kids, but you aren't taking what is head and shoulders your most gifted player off the court for extended periods of time no matter how bad he's playing.  My guess is whether he's shooting 12-15 for 30 points or 2-17 for 8 points his minutes will be very similar.

Kind of like if Markus is 2-12 shooting with 6 turnovers he's still probably seeing 30+ minutes (assuming no foul trouble), except that the talent gap between Dexter and the guy replacing him on the court is probably even larger than Markus and Chartouny or Sacar.

I don't disagree, but if there is that much of a talent gap between Dex and the rest of his teammates that would make me even more excited. I don't follow high school basketball that closely but Blair is regularly one of the top programs in the country right?

I don't mean top 5 or anything like that. But they're consistently a top 50 type program right?

yeah its not your average high school........They are a prep school that recruits players from all over the country......I'm not sure who their best player is but it's not Dexter.

Might be Abdur-Rahim....who we are also involved with. He is the 27th ranked player in 2020 according to espn
https://www.blair.edu/athletics/winter-sports/boys-basketball

Here is another of their players
It looks like Blair Academy (NJ) has a rising star in 6'9" wing forward Akoldah Gak, who announced himself during the opening day of our MADE Hoops High School Academy Camp in suburban Philadelphia on Saturday. Moving fluidly between the post and the perimeter, his blend of skills is impressive. Throw in the fact that he's just a sophomore, and you can understand why Miami (FL) and Rutgers have already offered scholarships. Having arrived recently to United States from Australia, the younger brother of Florida Gators post Gorjok Gak (6'11") & Miami Hurricanes sophomore forward Deng Gak (6'10") looks to be following a similar trajectory to big brothers. Just know this; those scholarship offers are just the beginning for this supremely talented forward.

Doesn't bode well for the future of the league. A ton of C's in there. IIRC,  3-4 years ago there was a monster recruiting haul across teams and the league was really strong the past few years because of it.

I would not pay attention to this for two reasons. First, never evaluate prospects by their ratings. Only evaluate a prospect if you have seen him live several times or watched several full length tape, not highlights. Second, there still is the spring signing period and frequently there are many good players that become available , especially late bloomers or kids who were injured during prior  evaluation periods. Finally, sometimes it is better not to offer a scholarship than to waste it on non High Major talent.

Still a lot of signing to come but I share your concerns.

Does Marquette have any HS targets for the last scholarship for next season, or likely being held for a transfer?

Well, if Nico Mannion happened to become available, I'm sure we'd have room for him.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

The answer seems to be no.  But that doesn't mean a Spring candidate won't emerge in his Senior year.

Grimes burned that bridge.

Grimes costs too much.

And will be in the NBA.
