Agreed, many different reasons a player goes to a school, but I would say #! for most kids is getting them into the NBA.

Players will want to play in the Fiserv, but I suspect it will have very little effect on recruiting. The BMO Harris Center probably was better than most college arenas, so an upgrade in the arena will not have much effect. It is not like UW going from the Field House to the Kohl Center. The Field House had to have a negative effect on recruiting. The BMO Harris center did not negatively impact recruiting.

It sure as fin heck did if they went to a game.  If u think MU had a good college game atmosphere then u have never been to another arena for a college game.  Id give the BRadley a C, at best.  Most nights a D.

I really believe once MU starts playing at the Fiserv Forum that recruits will want to play there.  Winning should happen the next 2 years, if not, Wojo is gone.  This year
has been a total bust in signing top kids.  It happens, but it better not happen next year.  The amount of money MU spends on recruiting is staggering.  There all over
the place trying to find kids around the country.  Not sure MU sells itself yet,  need some runs in the NCAA for that to happen.  It should happen really the next 3 years
as you can have Theo, Cain, Hauser, McEven, Elliott and Bailey.  That alone is enough talent to get into the tournament.  All experienced players if they all stay.  Get
2 or 3 more and you are alright.

Actually it is that simple.  Same reason the schools that go to sweet 16s n final 4s year in n year out continue to battle for the top kids.  Really simple.

MU needs to do both. Be a factor in the tournament each year and get players into the league. If we look at where MU was at the end of the Crean/Buzz era we could credibly make a claim to status on both measures. That joint success culminated in our 2013 recruiting class which as a class was well respected and indeed that core group did actually get us into the tournament one year and beat a number one ranked team.

MU has a fair degree of momentum on recruiting now which has led to the current roster. As many have pointed out this was a result of being able to offer an opportunity to play. That is fine and admirable since that is what we had to offer.  MU now has many credible irons in the fire in the 2020 class. I believe if MU makes a reasonably deep run into the tournament this year( sweet 16 or better) the coaching staff will be in a position to close on a number of those 2020 prospects on the basis of our being a higher profile program and then have some good momentum going into the 2021 class. It would help the cause if Markus can have another big move up and became a 24-25 point a game fancy advanced stats All American and first round NBA draft pick .

Our big target Nico, did not even bother to visit MU. I am sure the coaches told him about how great the new arena is. It did not matter. I use to think the Yum Center was a great advantage for Louisville. However, they still had to cheat to get recruits.

There was a report after the draft that the Knicks were all set to take Trier at 36. Then Mitchell Robinson fell and the Knicks changed course. I believe Trier/his agent told some teams to pass on him in the 2nd round because he'd rather sign with the Knicks,  where Trier felt he would have a great chance to make the roster.

Trier probably would've been a first round pick if he didn't miss so much time at Arizona.  I can't remember exactly the reasons why he missed time but I think that really hurt his draft stock.

I don't remember Trier projected as a first rounder prior to his issues, but there are dozens of draft projections and I wouldn't be surprised if a few did.

If I were a NBA owner and my GM passed on drafting a kid because he wanted to be a FA and sign with another team, I'd fire him on the spot. That is idiotic. If he grades out as a player you want to draft, you take him. IF that really happened, what's next? "Please Milwuakee (or OKC or SLC, etc.) don't take me with your first round pick, I'd like to be a Laker or Bull or Knick." (I 100% agree that players feel this way and hope not to be picked in later rounds, be it the NBA or NFL, but teams capitulating to this request seems crazy)

Very pleased Dawson is going to be there. Appears that his pops is around the gym watching him a lot - hopefully the 'close-enough-to-drive' or 'quick flight' aspect is seen as a big positive.

He's really good right now, but will be interesting to see if he can dominate at the 17U level next year. So versatile.

Polk is originally from the Milwaukee area, and he says getting an offer from Marquette was a big deal for him.

"It was a blessing to get that offer," said Polk of Marquette. "Every kid dreams about being a hometown hero, and carrying the home city team to an NCAA Championship. For me to get that offer was really eye opening."

Definitely seems like someone we can land if we decide to make him a priority.
