Some updates:

'19-'20
Mark "Rocket" Watts has done an unofficial visit
What, Rocket isn't the actual name that appears on his birth certificate? Man, now I'm not sure I even want him to come to MU...

MU was one of the first to offer 2019 Nobal Days. Gainey and then Carrawell were the lead recruiters, don't know who lead recruiter is now.  Has not announced  final list or officials yet.  Not the typical high scoring big man, so will be interesting to see which way the winds blow.

I doubt that Marquette is actively recruiting Days any more.

Some new highlights posted of James Bishop from the NBPA camp. The footage is excellent is in that it gives the complete play development which really shows the quality of Bishops overall talent and court awareness. He reminds me a lot of DJO.  Also if you look carefully in the highlights, you will see Nobal Days setting a couple of nice picks that led to Bishop baskets.

TAMU, does anybody come off, especially next year?

Class of 19 looks good. Class of 20 I think its too early to take anyone off at this point.

I looked but didn't see Alex. You will get to see Jeenethan live when Buffalo comes to town.

Oh.....I'm aware.

However, I'm quite certain that you have it in you to find a recruiting video featuring an ex-MU recruit where Jeenathan is eating popcorn in the stands.

Are any of these players 6'10" or bigger?

The only player in the 2020 class that we have offered who is currently 6'10 or taller is Dawson Garcia. You gotta keep in mind though that these kids are rising juniors in high schools. Many of them still have growing to do. There are several at 6'8/6'9 already who could easily put on another inch or two before coming to campus. Not that 6'10 is a magical height.

Yeah 6'8 or 6'9 with strength and mobility is perfect for the way basketball is played now.

Nova won the championship without anyone 6'10 or above.

They did have 3 6'9 guys who could guard all over the court and 2 of them could shoot 3s.......that will work just fine.

Now all we have to do is find them...... 8-)

Also, when you are talking AZ, they recruit like blue bloods, maybe do not play like blue bloods, so maybe by January they will have used up there scholys to 3 or
4 5 star recruits, or they lose there coach for payments, not even sure where that stands.  Not even sure Louisville has been reprimanded other than Pitino getting
fired.

That Sean Miller story died. Seems like BS. There has not been a word about it and he is doing just fine at UA.

Baldwin also has the show stealing opening monologue in BlacKkKlansman, as a white supremicist recording a propaganda speech with The Birth of a Nation playing on the wall behind him.  Then he never appears again.  It's a shocking scene, but also brilliantly done by Baldwin.

And Baldwin's one-off scene might only be the second best one-scene show stealer in that movie, since Corey Hawkins (Dr Dre from Straight Outta Compton) is fantastic as Stokely Carmichael/Kwame Ture.

Just go see it, people.

I did go see it, and you're right on both accounts. Definitely will contend for awards, as it should.

Edit: Sorry about continuing this subject in this thread. This will be my final comment on it here. A bazillion apologies.

Eh, wasn't impressed when I saw him, high usage, low efficiency. Really struggled to score when he played against someone his own size which will be everyone at the collegiate level. and like others mentioned pretty sure that ship has long sailed.

Steele article on Nico Mannion. One bit that I found interesting was that Mannion plans to commit in January or February because he wants to take official visits during the season to get a feel for gameday environments.

All four programs have great gameday experiences...though for different reasons. Hopefully he likes that shiny new arena smell at that Forum. Hopefully we can get him to the Vadger game, we should have the place packed.

Yeah I think you're right, it's the best time to look our best.  I'm impressed with his thought process and maybe there is somewhat of a level playing field between the final 4 teams.

I'm not going to underestimate the impact Brendan and Thurl might have on Nico's decision.  If things are going well for the Bailey family, Nico will know.  Is that enough?  Of course not.  But it's a start.

The Sporting News has a nice article on Nico: http://www.sportingnews.com/ca/fiba/news/born-ready---the-story-of-nico-mannion/x68fxa05378a12f1nvqtef7v9

this is the only negative:  On the defensive end of the floor, whilst he tries hard – that hasn't been where he's shone so far.

Steele article on Nico Mannion.

A few tidbits I found interesting:

But the competition for the 6-foot-3, 180-pound Mannion will be stiff, with blue bloods Duke, Villanova and Arizona also making the cut.

Obviously, Ben didn't get the Official Scoop List of Bluebloods.

"Their message is mainly they just let their guards go," Mannion told Adam Zagoria in April. "This year with their two guards they let their guards go. That's their message to me, let me play my game and be free."

Very smart message of Wojo & Co. to send any great guard, and of course they have Markus/Rowsey's stats (and even Carlino's) to prove it.

Regarding the earlier discussion of how good it is to be on a 5-star's short list, even if we end up missing out ... having a kid like this say positive things about MU in national articles can't hurt. I'm not sure how much it will help, especially in the long run ... but it might help some, especially in the short run. And again, it certainly won't hurt.

In an effort to help Wojo land him, I will do what I did (or didn't do) during our successful pursuits of Henry, Markus, Joey, Cain, etc, and I won't change my Scoop name. Thank me later!

Against most teams these type of players are fine. However, we will see how you feel after we try to stop Kansas's bigman. When I look at height, I am looking towards the NCAA tournament where you will eventually run into big centers.

You do realize that the Villanova team that mumark used as an example ran into Kansas in the tournament last season and ran them out of the gym right?

It also says a lot how recruits view the Big East...2 out of 4 on the list.

949 has him ranked as the #11 overall prospect and #1 point guard in the class of 2019.  Their composite has him as the #17 overall player and #2 point guard in the class.

It will depend on how he plays in his freshman season, but 1 and done is certainly possible.
