Down to Maryland and Kansas. Dumb, average, and smart money says Kansas. Dotson's dad is out of town this week. Scuttlebutt is that the decision will come when the dad gets home next week.

And remind me, Grimes is going to KU when?

A week from Friday, so most likely after Dotson has announced.

But there seems to be some overdramatization of what it all means.
MU has been "all in" on better recruits before, lost them (see: Brian Butch, Michael Snaer, Iman Shumpert) and survived just fine. The same will be true if Grimes chooses Kansas or Kentucky.

1.Nobody has said MU won't survive just fine is we miss on QG, only that he could very well be the guy who elevates us from "just fine" to really, really good.
2.Why do you classify Butch, Snaer and Shumpert as "better" recruits than QG? Butch was ranked higher but so not ready for college bball he was red shirted his freshman year. Snaer's rsci was 17, Shumpert's 22. QG sits at 12 right now.

@WisBBYearbook: 2020 F Jamari Sibley (6-8) of Nicolet plans to attend Marquette Madness Friday. MU showing strong interest in promising young forward.

I like Sibley a lot. Very athletic forward. Already 6-8 and growing. Has range out to the three point line. Jalen Johnson is much better but Sibley would be a nice number 2 target.

We disagree on much of this, and that's cool. Have a good one.

Fair enough. Have a good one yourself, Mike.

Only offer I can find for him is UWGB. Might be a mid major prospect

1. You're right. Nobody has suggested that MU would quit playing basketball if Grimes commits elsewhere. Apologies for my hyperbole. Let's just say some have suggested it would be a significant loss, which isn't true. One of the consequences of aiming high when recruiting - for which I'm glad to see MU doing  - is that you're going to lose some of those battles. Realistically for MU, it's likely we'll lose most of those battles. That's OK, because the payoff in wining a few of those battles makes it worthwhile. It's far better than the days when MU was more typically battling with MVC schools for recruits.

2. I checked the Scout rankings, which are Butch (9), Snaer (13), Shumpert (15) and Grimes (16). But really, that's trivial, so let's just agree that MU has gone all in on and lost recruits as good as Grimes. Fair?

Given all the circumstances (his position, 5* ranking, our 2018-19 roster already being strong), I think not getting him would be a significant loss. Henry turned a bad team into a less bad/mediocre team. Meh. But QG could turn a good team into a great team, a championship team. To me that's significant.

Regarding other recruits, we lost Butch to Wisconsin, Shumpert to Georgia Tech and Snaer to Florida State. Decent to very good programs, to be sure, but hardly Kansas or Kentucky. I think Grimes will prove to be a better, more impactful player than any of them.

Found a short video of Desmond Polk on Youtube.  Looks like a good shooter with a quick release.  Gabe Madsen looks like a very good shooter as well.  Johnson, Polk, Sibley, the Madsens (formerly of Bloomer, WI)...whoever has been saying the WI class of 2020 is going to be loaded wasn't lying.  Was it Freeport?  Maybe him and one or two others?

Hi guys back in San Juan for some work. God do I miss been able to see Scoop daily. You guys made my day with all the posts keeps my head away from all the troubles. Never in my mind I imagined standing in a 2-3 hour line to go grocery shopping or do an atm cash withdrawal. Still no comms in my hometown can get some phone calls at spots, only 10% have power. Crap going to miss Madness and I guess most of games till November- December

Clearly, with this obvious lack of effort on your part, you are not nearly as big a Marquette fan as the rest of us!

Seriously, dreams, glad to hear you're OK. Hang in there!

We lost power for 72 hours due to Irma and the whining was deafening - what you and the rest of the folks down there are going through is mind boggling and heartbreaking. Hang in there, man.

My question on these visits, not sure after the first visit, what they talk about the 2nd or 3rd time with a recruit.  Can they take them out for dinner, or do they watch
him at the gym?  Bill Self, Shaka, saw him to, this kid must need to see some serious love from the coaches?  I understand you are trying to build a relationship with him
but when is it enough.  Does the NCAA limit how many times you can visit a kid?

I believe they are allowed one visit a week and the location can be pretty much anywhere.

Including Billy Minardi Hall?
