Kon wants to get up and down the court, do not see VA or Wisky doing that.  Duke or MU seems to be his style.
UVA is the favorite unless we start hearing otherwise.

1. Recruited him the longest
2. Current Roster has 3 players from the same AAU program on it already

Don't look beyond the obvious sometimes

I think the 'obvious' is Gard has cooled on him and he doesn't have the grades for UW-Madison.

And the most important connection may be that both mom and uncle played for UWGB and have known the Bennett family over 30 years.  Uncle Jeff played with Tony.

OK Wow. I guess I missed that his mom is a Nordgaard.

Sounds like a one and done who isn't interested in an education. Pass.

Serious Thoughts: Kom– Should be an extremely talented college player. Amazing shooter in highschool, smart enough to play a team game and still get tons of shots. If he's a one and done player, (like Henry) why would he go to Duke and come off the bench his freshman year? I understand he's the type of kid that just wants to get better, so maybe 2 years in Durham will benefit him. Virginia is probably his best option.  He would be their brightest star.

Yet, I believe his opportunity to play his freshman year at MU in front of his family a dozen times and not make them travel would make him tilt that way. He's a kid who thinks about stuff like that. It's in his heart. Work hard, find success but always consider who are the people that are important to you.

When Al was here he had his star system. Seniors, juniors, on down. I admit, he sometimes stifled talented younger players because of it. But he was hard headed and it worked for him. Butch Lee was quite frustrated by it but he was an All-American his senior year. I could go on for a long time.

Shaka's culture will not be turned upside down if the kid from Wisconsin Lutheran signs to play at MU. And plays immediately. It would only mean that he earned it. He wouldn't expect to be a favorite son, but the fans at Fiserv would surely enjoy that he's playing here and he's one of us. And cheer their asses off. Anything less would be a let down for a kid who plays for the competition and the joy.

Stay close to home, your roots, around your family. Develop your skills in a great program. But don't get ahead of yourself. You're not Dwyane yet. The decision is his alone. Here's a pen. Sign on the dotted line. And you will cherish it for the time that it was. 2024 Golden Eagles.

Not sure that is the case........Kon has said he has " an old man's game".
So, he just stands outside the three point line on offense waiting for someone to pass to him and jogs up and down the court?

"To be honest, I have a little old man game to me. I have a little post game. I do a little rebounding. I like to bang with the big boys sometimes, but I'm more of a combo guard. I like to bring it up a little bit and get into a little pick-and-roll too.

Devils advocate, how is Kon appreciably better/projects so much better than Joey Hauser at the same age?  They feel very similar.  Very good shooters, bigger frame but not overly athletic, slow of foot/not overly quick.

He's a really nice player but I definitely don't see him as a top 20 guy from video packages nor does it seem like an uptempo game most suits him.

The Lens

Every time I see 5 star I see Duke / Kentucky early ncaa flame out.

Went don't need another Henry / Markus / Joey situation.

Today's college basketball is won with 3 & 4 year players.  The Carmelos are super rare.

He's a better shooter. Athletically... about even (pre-football injury for Joey). I think the main difference is Kon can put it on the deck a bit more and creates more opportunities for others with his passing ability.

Idk how true this is about making a final four but I think that really only the Anthony Davis Kentucky team, and Okafor Duke team were freshman loaded champions in the past decade plus unless I'm forgetting somebody
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Neither Markus nor Joey were 5 stars, nor were they one and dones.  I'd love to see what Hank could've done with talent around him.  Only 4 teams have won a national title without a McDonald's All American on it since 1979.  I'd like to see a national title in my lifetime, so I think I'll take the 5 stars rather than trying to be the exception.

Wasn't Joey was a five star before breaking his foot and I thought Markus was a five star before reclassifying?

Could be wrong.

Yeah found an MU wire article referencing Joey as a five star while being recruited.

ESPN had Howard at 32 before reclassifying so probably would've fallen into the Vander and JJJ level of borderline 5 star.

Looks like he was as high as 18 by scout before the foot

My question is what does "5 star" mean to you? Just that one person or group at one point referred to someone as a "5 star"?

To me? That they're high enough to get legitimate all American looks and would be on nba scout radars out of high school.

As far as one person or group? I think it was you who informed me years ago that ESPN recruiting rankings suck so I usually go off 247 as my trusted source and using those I'd say a trusted recruiting service had Joey listed as a five star before his injury.

I'm going off of what the guys were ranked when they entered into college.  Neither Joey nor Markus were 5 stars, and neither were one and done players.  Joey was in college long enough that he'd be bald if he knew when to take the loss and shave what's left.
