I was using the definition of "competing and not winning or tying" - IOW, losing.

Which definition of losing was Mike using?

To no longer have something that you once possessed

You are correct that coaches lose recruiting battles. 82 is correct that uncommitted recruits are not lost because recruits don't "belong" to a coach until they commit.

It's one of the odder arguments I've seen on here, and that's saying something.

The odd argument here is that coaches can't "lose" recruiting battles but he can lose his job for not winning them.

I have never seen anyone say anything like that.

Again, I have never seen 82 or anyone say that a coach couldn't lose a recruiting battle.

I have seen 82 say that a coach didn't lose a recruit.

You are using the definition of lose about suffering defeat. 82 is using the definition of lose about no longer possessing something you once had.

It's a really odd argument.

Can lose the battle for the recruit but not the recruit? That is positively Clintonian - all depends on what the definition of "is" is, a'ina?

So Lenny is too hard headed to realize a word can have multiple definitions and uses? That's what the Recruiting Thread hijack is about?

Yep.

And he's relitigating the Hauser transfer elsewhere too.

You and BLM need to get a room. I'd feel more flattered about having two stalkers and living rent free in both of your heads if there wasn't so much room there.

Would love to have you not in my head. It's impossible not to have you in my head when every other post in the most useful thread on Scoop is you trying to tell people the single way to use the word "lost."

Pretty much what he's been reduced to.

The downside of bringing in 9 guys with 4 years of eligibility remaining is that it will be perceived that you don't have a lot of playing time to offer.

It will be interesting to see how Shaka fills this first recruiting class. I think we will get a lot of swings and misses until he finds a way to balance the classes a little bit (or starts winning big).

So he has to thin the herd if we don't win. It will be interesting to see if Shaka can get us out of the deep hole that Wojo dug for the MU program.

Or he can win with the players he has. Or players will transfer on their own naturally. Or despite many swings and misses he will still land quality recruits. Or he will use transfers to fill in needs.

Oh no. Lennys will never do that.  He LIVES for Chicosesque pedantic arguments.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Reed Bailey, a late offer by Shaka, committed to Davidson.
