Love MKE but MKE is not a "fairly major city"

I really hope Wojo is able to land a fairly major city in 2020, whether it's via the prep ranks or grad transfers

Does anyone know anything about Mike Smith is there expressed interest or is someone simply putting together a list of potential transfers???

Just the standard "this guy is transferring I hope we get him!"

At this point,  just a potential target.  The Ivy League does not allow 5th year players, so Smith will definitely be on the market.

He's originally from Illinois and he's a high scoring 5-11 guard.  So Marquette could be an appealing choice.

OD do u think tyrese will commit now that he has an offer, is it a dream school where he always wanted to go kinda thing?

Based on what I've seen it seems like a strong possibility.

Asked, they were most definitely Marquette fans. Or at least they were dressed in MU gear and screaming about firing Wojo whenever anything bad happened (which I guess means they were yelling until they were removed).

Well hopefully the hundreds of MU fans around them made it clear to the Howard's, other recruits and families, and their MU brethren that this type of behavior is not only unacceptable but a vocal minority.

I have two men behind me who never shut up and never say anything positive. It's part of Scoop in real life. The guy next to me turned around at one point and said stay home then or cheer for Wisconsin. I think he thought I had his back...of course I did.

Tyrese may want to wait until after the coaching shuffle ends this spring before giving a verbal.

So why has he not committed yet?

Why did we wait so long on Hunter?  Its been said here before MU is his dream school.  Was he more of a backup option?  Does this perhaps mean other options we were hoping for has sailed?

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Tyrese has averaged 26 points a game for the 6 games in February, so he has stepped up his game.  Struggled a little out of the gate in December and has now brought his shooting percentages up to over 40% for 3's and just under 70% for free throws.  They've watched him a few times, so all I can figure is that they've now seen the Tyrese they were hoping to see all along.

Really want him at MU.  Not only does he have the athletic talent, he's very coachable, would fit the team socially and would enable his family members a short drive to home games.  Has a family background that makes you want him to succeed and of course, the St. Catherine's history with Marquette is strong.

No reason why MU should not have a point guard like Marcus Carr or McKinley Wright

Have you watched GTown? DePaul? I think Chicago and DC are major cities, but maybe not? Their arenas are empty.

Hate to break it to you, but your non-MU fan isn't seeking out MU tickets. Nobody outside of MU's fans care about MU. It's all about UW, even in MKE.

I know this is anecdotal, but I had 3 groups of friends, 8 guys total, none of whom went to MU or SH, who drove from Chicago for the game.  All in their mid 50's and just love college ball, and see MU games as a great option.

Thanks for the perspective. That is very surprising to me.

I really wish they would have gone after Wright harder.

Wanna know about Tyrese's family background? Here's a story about his grandmother (maybe great-grandma?) who just passed. It seems like about half of the African American students at St Cats are related to Tyrese and Mother Louise.  They're just good, faithful, people.  https://journaltimes.com/news/local/louise-mother-hunter-founder-of-love-and-charity-dies-at/article_26d4f084-bfb2-587c-bf9e-478749ae60af.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-1

As for St Catherine's history, most of the greatest players in the school's history have wound up at Marquette.  Chones and McIlvaine ("not even the best center named Jim from my high school") of course as well as Jake Thomas and Marcus West.  On the girls side, Krystal Ellis is the all time leading scorers at St Cats and was Marquette's until last year.

I posted about Luke Goode a few months ago when MU began watching him play. I know Xavier, Illinois, Louisville, others with interest too. Mentions a possible future MU visit.

First two St. Catherine's players at Marquette that I know of were Jim Poulson and Rocke Calvelli.  Recruited to MU by Eddie Hickey. Calvelli started at guard in Al McGuire's first season.  There's also a reference that 6-8 Tom Schilke, who played with Poulson and Calvelli, played freshman ball at Marquette and then went to Montana.

How can that be when they have a pro basketball and a pro baseball team?
