There were at least a dozen tickets in my lower bowl section, 10-12 rows up, of season ticket holders today that were either empty or filled with non-STH occupants. Big weekend sold out games are way more likely to have random one off fans in attendance than Tuesday night against DePaul or Georgetown

Is this a serious question? Especially a top 15 matchup? It’s a major city with major college basketball. It’s not UWM or Illinois St playing in a podunk college town

Have you watched GTown? DePaul? I think Chicago and DC are major cities, but maybe not? Their arenas are empty.

Hate to break it to you, but your non-MU fan isn’t seeking out MU tickets. Nobody outside of MU’s fans care about MU. It’s all about UW, even in MKE.

If you think DePaul’s place in Chicago is anything similar to Marquette in Milwaukee I don’t know what to tell you.

And again, every damn game there are non-MU fans in STH areas. It’s easy to spot them cause they aren’t getting excited for random made shots, usually aren’t in their seats right away at tip or after HT, and aren’t in Marquette apparel.

But my experiences are obviously wrong cause as you smugly have informed me,  nobody has ever attended a game at an new arena in the center of a fairly major city that isn’t an involved MU fan

Asked, they were most definitely Marquette fans. Or at least they were dressed in MU gear and screaming about firing Wojo whenever anything bad happened (which I guess means they were yelling until they were removed).

Agreed.  The city is hosting the Democratic National Convention
this year.  That alone has to count for something.

Milwaukee is a major city. But to pretend there’s this huge demand for MU basketball tickets, regardless of the era or success of the team, is just wrong. The list of sports priorities in Milwaukee is 1) Packers 2) Badger football 3) Brewers 4) Bucks 5) Badger basketball 6) MU basketball.

The best was when rando non mu/visiting team fans would scalp student section seats and be sitting right smack in the middle of the student section.  This happened quite frequently for bigtime (top ranked teams in town/big Monday) games when I was at Marquette. Most of the time, those people were a blast to sit next to because they were just slamming beers and cheering for a great game.

Brewers and Bucks rank ahead of UW football in Milwaukee Co.

Maybe at the moment, but not overall, mainly because the Bucks and Brewers typically aren’t very good.

Love MKE but MKE is not a "fairly major city"

Kenneth Schemmerhorn, then Music Directorof the Milwaukee Symphony, stated loudly he was a “Big Fish in a Little Pond”

Of course he was correct about the little pond part.

He ended up in Nashville which, I suppose in its own provincial way, is the Big Apple of the Mid South.

Manes

If the story on Howard’s parents is true, that is completely uncalled for and everyone should be pissed off by it. Not sure what that has to do with with the last minute TO against PC, but I am assuming your smart ass post was meant for me.

The TO was bush league and the fans behavior was bush league. The person responsible for the TO is the HC of the program and highly paid and I have zero idea who the idiot fans involved in the incident are.

Mostly Packers.  Even Bucks and Brewers pale relative to the Packer talk.

Agreed.  The city is hosting the Democratic National Convention
this year.  That alone has to count for something.

Milwaukee is hosting the DNC because Wisconsin is essential for any Democratic plans to win the White House.

I love the city but it is a poor choice to host the convention. Hotel space is grossly inadequate and has left the DNC scrambling to house state delegations in Central Lake County, IL and as far away as Chicago O’Hare’s neighborhood.

As to Nashville being the “Big Apple of the Mid-South,” I prefer to think of it as the New Orleans of Middle Tennessee. It’s a relatively recent phenomenon brought on by central location, favorable tax climate and the city’s embrace of its music legacy, something it did not do until the last 20 years or so. Nashville’s resiliency as a major market will be tested the next time there’s a recession when we see what happens to all those commercial real estate projects now being built.

Wrong again. Its Packers by a wide wide margin, then Brewers then Bucks and it's always been that way.

If Smith and Mane both want to come to MU you take them both.MU needs guards that can play.If it means McEwen grad transfers so be it.
