Well I stand corrected! Thought we would stay at 7 and after aware of Tennessee, ok it will be 6....but 4 is a nice mistake on my part.
Got to beat Butler there so we can argue for a few days about being #1 if we beat UConn. Fun!

Would you put Stevie on Newton, Castle, or Spencer?  Newton?

I think Spencer is the one you have to contain, but I'll bet it's Newton.

I agree with you.  You cannot let that guy get open looks.

IMHO, Stevie on Newton to try and disrupt the offense. Chase on Spencer and then let a Kam take Castle since he is not the best at shooting 3s - and offer Kam help when needed. Obviously all this could change if one of UConn's shooters gets hot from deep.

You have TK on the bench...? Or is he guarding 6'8" Alex Karaban?

Sorry I was not clear; that is when Ross is in the game.  Without Ross, I would go Tyler on Newton, Stevie on Spencer to ensure he does not start making 3s and Kam on Castle. Jop is guarding Karaban.

I have been seeing MU swag all year in ATL on connections

I was in the Fort Lauderdale airport a couple of days ago wearing a Marquette shirt, and an elderly gentleman came up to me and said, "I went to Marquette!  Class of 1964!"

I asked, "Are you following the basketball team?"

"No."

"They are top 5 right now!"

He walked away, and when he passed by again, he sang "Ring out Ahoya."  I was impressed that he remembered, given that he probably hadn't heard it in 50 or 60 years.

Have some patience, FFS.

Companion post - odds of being #1 on Monday are about 5%. (Assuming we leapfrog UH even if they win - which I think we do - winning two Q1 road games, including against #1 has got to be enough to overtake 1-0 with a QII home win).

Holy hell all time

Won't be and shouldn't be even if we beat UCONN.

But it'd be a hell of a win and I hope we find out.

Yeah no reason we'd deserve to jump Purdue without them losing at least once more. Same with Houston. Maybe they'd use recency bias to put UConn below us but I think the total W & L would keep them ahead for most voters

Can't imagine we'd jump Purdue.  I know they go by recency, but Purdue did beat us on a neutral court.

brewcity77

If we beat UConn and Purdue lost at Ohio State Sunday, we'd probably get some first place votes. But I don't think we'd go to #1.

I think we could jump Houston.

People are pretty divided  on them

Quite possible. I don't understand the Houston doubters. They look legit to me. Maybe voters think they are still in the AAC.

CountryRoads

I'll say 8. Shouldn't drop that far since MU picked up a Q1 win on the road this week but we'll be punished for getting smacked yesterday.

marqfan22

I think we drop out of the top ten given the severity of the loss. Every highlight mentioned the largest beating by a top 5 conference matchup

Would be harsh. You'd have to make a case for 7 teams to pass us.

#6 Kansas lost by 29 to unranked TTU
#7 UNC lost to a horrible Syracuse
#11 South Carolina lost twice. One by 40
#13 Auburn lost a home game

You might be right, but it'd be pretty harsh for one bad game considering they had won 8 in a row.

I hope you're right. Purdue lost just now too.
