Quote from: Galway Eagle on April 09, 2026, 02:22:08 PMIt drives me a bit mental how many times guys since then have caught players in the air on a pump fake and side step around instead of initiating the contact. It's not like Rowseys fake was something that can't be replicated.

Hasn't there been some rule change or approach to officiating since The Thing whereby if the shooter clearly initiates the contact that a foul is not called? For some reason, I have that in my mind as a reason that there is not so much of that blatant Thing anymore.

I thought that was for when shooters are kicking their leg out trying to draw a foul.

Quote from: The Equalizer on April 09, 2026, 02:34:16 PMDon't know if he's a fit--look at all those shot attempts between 3 feet and the 3 point line.

It is funny how horrible he was at midrange shots too.

Shoots 89% from the line. Shoots 36.7% from three, with many from 25+ feet. 61.8% on layups and dunks.

23.4% from midrange.

I can't believe people thought that this staff was just Re-recruiting guys who told them no.

That was so dumb.

You could just admit you were supremely overzealous on what Nigels value would be lol.

So coach the midrange out of him and you have a pretty dang good offensive player.

I'd take a Chase Johnston off my bench next year.  We run a 3s and offense system.  Our players stink at shooting 3s.  I'd love to add some 3 point shooters to our roster.

Someone probably saw he was interested in a team in the Midwest with blue and gold colors and the letters M and U in their insignia and got hopeful.

Quote from: Juan Anderson's Mixtape on April 09, 2026, 12:37:07 PMOnepost has been mentioning Fru for a little while.  Whether that's due to insider buzz, random speculation, or regurgitating Trilly's discord, I have no idea.

But onepost has had reliable information in the past, so I find his posts to be more credible than not.

A buddy familiar with the staff told me Fru, Buljan, and Evans were the big men targets we've been on for a week now. That our focus has primarily been on big men, with wings/guards to follow in order of priority. I don't think discord has said anything about Fru anywhere - sounds like McKeever is leaning towards Iowa so I think that'd help us with Fru.

I think the very top portal transfers will end up making $5M-$6M so while "he could easily double what we gave him" is hyperbolic, I don't think it's out of the realm for any school with deep pockets to have thrown that kind of money at him. That's all.

If I were a betting man, I would place a small wager around MU's pursuit of a big man.   And that is that the Ballard hire ends up being a package deal.

Let's see what Blackwell gets. He's the better player right now but given Nigel has 3 years left, I wouldn't be surprised if he would have commanded something similar.

We can't focus on more than one position group at a time?

Jeremy Fears, probably the top returning PG next season, is reportedly getting $2.1 million (and he claimed Michigan offered him $4.5 million after last season). I would be surprised if we are giving Nigel that, since we don't have the deep pockets MSU has. Guards don't get the amounts bigs get, and those are in the $5 million-plus range

Matthew Winick, really smart college basketball analyst, eviscerated this pickup on twitter haha: "Can't think of a more blatant example of teams desperate to add bigs than an early add of Mike Nwoko at Xavier for a reported massive amount of money. Nwoko's teams are 11-25 in league play with him as a starter and he's a net-negative defender with no ball skills. Great rebounder."

Honestly refreshing getting that kind of commentary these days.

If we add Eric Dibami it NEEDS to be replacing Josh Clark or Caedin Hamilton - not as a rotation add.
That's the type of developmental big Shaka should be taking, not a HS unknown with zero other major offers like he's done.

No doubt, which is why we've been linked with Amari Evans and Tylen Riley too.
More that it seems like the bigs are the first dominoes to fall in free agency so they're being prioritized.

It doesn't appear so. I have no inside knowledge on it but my best guess is a guy like Clark wouldn't announce a transfer unless we first find a big to replace him: like Dibami.

What does that mean, "will end up making"? In the context of getting deals from schools, it's limited in what I think it could mean, but.. wondering when you say it, what does that mean?
