We did ok after we built a house of bricks against Butler in 2024, and we started to see Kolek taking many more midrange shots.

Right. But we will still "prioritize" at the rim and from three. As will every program.

From On 3

Cole Certa ended the year very strongly for Notre Dame, averaging 15.8 points with 2.9 made threes a game in ACC play. Some of the schools I have heard are involved with the 6-foot-5 sophomore are DePaul, Marquette, and Louisville. Continue to watch what visits he goes on; things have been kept relatively close to the vest to this point

Has anyone seen or heard rumors of where Ben Defty (Boston University) is going to end up?

IMO, he could be an ideal fit.

Kolek did not take many midrange shots.

Yeesh, I hope not. He can shoot but that's about it. Very one dimensional player

I don't want to get in the middle of this weird crusade you've got going on but I know of two mega donors who were turned down by Shaka when they offered big NIL portal money in previous years and neither were happy about this year. Maybe that means they shut their wallet maybe not but money has previously been offered and is there. pretending it's not because we didn't go out and drop a brinks truck for the first name is a bit... out there.

I would hope he wouldn't be the feature addition, but I certainly would like to see some shooters on next year's team.

Going to pretend like I haven't read anything here since the Punch speculation and move on.

Are we not in the market for a player that seems like he might be identical to Nash Walker?

onepost

Seems like the bigs we're focused on are Sananda Fru and Kyle Evans.
Anyone heard if we're open to taking both??

Marquette was 118th in offense last year shooting 31.7% from three, ranking 290th.

They can add shooting.

Depends if you count 10 feet as mid-range, but he really increased his floater usage.

And it was a good shot because every single defense we faced was obsessed with keeping him from getting layups or finding a shooter.

(this only happens once you prove you can make threes and layups)

I don't.  I would not classify a floater in the paint (or anything in the paint) as midrange.

That distance might as well be from the logo for CH.  ;)

Then our definitions are different. I certainly don't want us taking many shots between the free throw line and the three point line. But I'd like to see an increased usage next year of floaters and NJ's pullup from 10-15 feet. Makeable shots that too often we shy away from and end up with a more difficult shot.

Has there been anything tying us to Fru beyond the hopes and dreams of scoop posters?

That's what frustrated me about Joplin. He often would've been more successful shooting 8-10 footers than his herky jerky ball fakes at the rim that ended up getting swatted.

Given that Evans is listed at only 210 lbs, that might be ideal.

I know nothing about this kid's game, but the last guy who transferred to the Big East who played sparingly at Kansas turned out to be pretty good.

You beat me to it.  ;D

It's right up there with scoopers who posted about how we should get (fill in the blank) into a Marquette uniform after being impressed with seeing the player in a game. It's as simple as ordering on Amazon.  ;D
