Quote from: 4everwarriors on November 24, 2024, 06:08:34 PMMy point is #10 is not a $50 mil qb. Threw a ton of interceptions in college and continues that 4 years into the pros. Could easily had 2 more ints today. Outside of 8-9 games last season, what distinguishes him? Can you win a Super Bowl with this guy? Maybe, but I think the rest of the team has to be outstanding in phases of the game. Right now, I think he's more of a system qb, than an outstanding talent, hey?

So you would have let him walk and start over at QB?  Noted

It has been fun having a QB buy into a good, modern offense the last two years.

I think your talent evaluation is off. But it doesn't really matter. He's likely a top ten QB in the league today, and that's what those guys get paid. You're more upset with the market than the QB.

I understand you probably wouldn't place him top 10, but there's no way even the biggest Love hater could place him worse than 15.

That's the going rate.

Quote from: cheebs09 on November 24, 2024, 06:09:40 PMIf you are stuck on the price tag, you aren't really up on modern football. That's kind of the going rate for a decent quarterback now. Look at the contract a guy like Daniel Jones got.

Yep. As the salary cap keeps growing, the quarterback contracts will as well. And yes they can win a Super Bowl with him. The surrounding cast, especially on defense, needs to be better.

How many NFL teams would trade their quarterback situation for the Packers'? I would say probably around 20.

0-7. Buffalo 3X, KC, Baltimore, Tennessee, SF. So mostly good teams. All on the road.

Objectively, they are all overpaid.  However, the unfettered marketplace dictates that is an appropriate contract.

If the guy you said was the best player on the Packers last year makes a 41 yard field goal, they're playing a game in Detroit, where they had won a few weeks earlier, to go to a Super Bowl last year.  Should've beat the Niners who went to OT in the Super Bowl.

So I'd say yes, the Packers could win a SB with #10 as their QB.  Will they?  Chances are they won't, but that doesn't mean they can't.

I'm happy to have Love instead of Rodgers under center.

The Sultan

How quarterback contracts work in the NFL.

1. Draft a guy
2. If he does well, pay that guy
3. If he stinks after you pay him, you cut/trade him, take the cap hit, and start over at (1)

OR

1. Find a journeyman and hope he's more Baker Mayfield that Gardner Minshew.

Of the 14 teams that made the NFL playoffs last year, 10 of them had quarterbacks they originally drafted. 2 of them traded quarterbacks they originally drafted for one another (Rams, Lions). 2 had journeymen (Browns, Bucs)

Fins game plan is puzzling, to say the least.

Just not sure what the heck Miami is doing tonight.  Is it the Packers defense or a bad game plan?

Love has been smart tonight.  Avoiding the dumb throw.

I say they go passive. That always works in the NFL.

6 minute drive with 0 points is ideal.

Tua saving that Yolo ball for next week. Will pair nicely with Eberflus' last timeout
