He was outstanding as Worm Creature in Gingerclown. lol

The guy has been a working actor since 1975.  He went an odd genre route but that doesn't mean he isn't a great actor. And not all horror films are awful.  Exorcist III was great. The Chucky early films are fun.

I’m with you. He was great in his one episode of Criminal Minds. And his episode of Psych. And SVU.

Look, I have nothing against the guy. Didn’t know who he was until I saw this thread. He’s done a couple really good things. But 50 years of making mostly bad stuff doesn’t make him a phenomenal actor. It was hyperbole.

He's done more than a couple of good things.  His early work was very strong across the board in drama films.  He happens to be really good at playing psychotic whackos and went that direction.  If you just watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, or Mississippi Burning, and can't recognize his talent, I have no idea what to say.  Incredible facial expressions and he steals ever scene with two of the best actors of all-time.

I guess Nurse Ratched died this year.  What a superb film.

The Patient is quite good, beginning to end.

Just finished and I agree.

I like reading recaps on shows I watch, and I pulled up Vulture's after the first episode.  I mistakenly pulled up the finale recap instead, so I accidentally found out how it ended.  Gaaah!
Have some patience, FFS.

It's such an odd series but pretty entertaining.  The mother really creeps me out and the primary character is a serious whacko but unlike most whackos portrayed on screen.

We finished The Patient tonight. Highly recommend for those who haven't seen it. The episodes are short, especially the first 6-7, and you'll want to binge it.

Carell was impressive, and the actors who played both Sam and Sam's mom were awesome.

Netflix:
$7 for 720p with ads, no downloads, not all content, 1 stream
$10 for 720p and no ads, 1 stream
$15.50, 1080p no ads, 2 streams
$20, 4k no ads, 4 streams

Unless you have a 75" or greater screen I doubt you'll notice the difference between 720 and 1080.

It's not creepy like a horror movie, though.  It's about a troubled but somewhat normal guy who kills people who are mean to him.

Doesn't sound normal to me, even somewhat.

For any horror fans, the movie Barbarian was fantastic…if you can, go in blind without reading anything about it.

I rented it, but think it’s on HBOMax too.

Come from Away was a really fun theater production.

Watched 'Pepsi, Where's My Jet" on Netflix yesterday morning.  Pretty interesting and was only 4 shorter episodes.

I saw the Banshees of Inisherin last night.  I have to say I was a bit disappointed despite wonderful acting.  Especially Kerry Condon who was excellent in a supporting role.  The cinematography is spectacular and the movie was worth seeing, but I think the overall storyline wasn't really there.

Two shows that I recommend.

1. Willie Mays doc on HBO. Easily the greatest player of my lifetime and the doc was very well done.

2. The English on Amazon Prime. Outstanding western. Definitely a Top 10 show for me this year.

There's a few Black Friday Week deals for streamers.

Paramount+ .. $10 for a year.  Need to set up a SportsLine account with the code ANNUAL (the code FRIDAY is not working.)

https://slickdeals.net/f/16218220-12-months-sportsline-paramount-premium-subscription-plan-10

Hulu : $24 for a year with ads.   If you have a Hulu account and the $2/month isn't showing up, create a new account with a different email.  (Tip:  johnsmith@gmail.com is the same as john.smith@gmail.com or j.ohn.smi.th@gmail.com .. but Hulu treats them all as different accounts.)

https://www.hulu.com/GMA?cmp=18230

Peacock: $12 for a year.   Try this link:

https://www.peacocktv.com/checkout?voucher%5B%5D=SAVEBIG&irclickid=28rwF23O2xyNUCmRSXxxhSnMUkA0Q10ZMTW5wk0&irgwc=1&utm_source=pk_vrs_imra&utm_medium=pd_aff_acq_psdlnk&utm_term=Slickdeals_LLC&utm_content=851557&cid=2201affiliateevgnpkpdaff4393&utm_campaign=2201affiliateevgn

Obviously, after a year, all of these renew at their regular prices.  The usual trick is to create a 2nd account, and every Black Friday, switch to the other account.

Also .. if your credit card doesn't have a "one time use" card generator .. I can recommend Privacy.com .. you attach it to your bank, and can generate a card with a spending limit, so if you forget after a year of subscribing, the card denies.

Seconded. Some of the best scary jumps I've had in awhile. Very unexpectedly great.

This may sound a bit crazy but The Menu was pretty entertaining.  The premise is beyond absurd but it has some great scenes and moments.

White Lotus was really, really overrated IMHO.

Bump for White Lotus 2 discussion. I like it but it certainly isn't good enough to be monopolizing the Emmys.

::Stephen A:: ON THE OTHER HAND, what I really came here to say is that the White Lotus 2 opening credits absolutely slap.

An absolute jam.  We always watch the opening credits of any series or any new season once through just for this reason.  Bout 30 seconds in where the high pitched guttural fluttering vocals come in, I literally said "HOLY SH**" outloud.  And now we watch the intro every week.  Still waiting for a remix with some bass

I think we've watched three episodes of White Lotus, I'm assuming it picks up?

If you are on the 1st season, no it doesn't.

We just started a re-watch of the old series, The Shield. 1st episode was epic right out of the gate.

I have no idea if anyone on here watches Survivor, but this season has been fun. Last night's episode was one of my favorites in the shows entire run.

We just finished Dead To Me.

Season 3 considerably less funny and interesting than the first 2 (especially the first) IMHO, but still a decent watch.
