Lady "servicing me" at the DMV today said I look like a younger John Jansenn from real housewives of Orange County, so now I need to pull up an episode and see what this freak is like.

Quote from: GB Warrior on May 05, 2025, 09:50:09 AMI'm underwhelmed by Bella Ramsey's acting this season. She was great for younger Ellie, but the demeanor hasn't shifted enough to meet the tone this season demands.

I know thats a popular sentiment among the fanbase right now,  but I don't think I agree yet.  Ramseys only had one opportunity so far to act out Ellies dark side (her big line to Abby in episode 2) and I thought she nailed it.  My recollection of the game is that by the point we are currently in the show,  Ellie hasnt really had any dark moments. The trip with Dina feels more like a girls roadtrip, very light despite the mission. It's not until later that things shift. I'll judge her fit after shes had a few more opportunities because right now shes 1/1 imho

but then you have to watch Real Housewives of Orange County. Is it really worth it?

I think you are incorrectly assuming this isn't a part of his normal rotation.

I'll give you that. I think we'll have a much better idea after the next 2 episodes.

The fan reaction is really fascinating.  I definitely wouldn't consider myself a "gamer"  but I did play both games in full and loved them (thanks to being furloughed during Covid).  The twist in the 2nd game really shocked me at the time, as well.

Thus, I've been really look forward to the show.  Season 1 more than lived up to my expectations and I've really enjoyed season 2 so far.

Because I had last played the games a few years ago, especially in regards to Part 2, I've forgotten a number of the details (for example, who went out on patrol in the game vs. how they changed it in the show).

For the most part, I think the changes they've made for the show have made sense narratively.  I like that they've full-fleshed out Dina and have given her more agency.  She has a reason for going to Seattle with Ellie aside from their relationship.

However, and I assume it's a very vocal minority, but some of the criticisms I've seen on Twitter from the diehard gamers have been so ludicrous it's hard to comprehend at times.  One person was sincerely angry that the lighting in the lodge in S2E2 was different than the lighting in the game.

These people are truly insufferable.

Anyway, looking forward to the last 3 episodes.  I think it's about to get really dark now.

Bummed the season feels so short and that we likely have to wait until 2027 for S3.

I did think we'd see more of Abby than we have so far.  Curious to see if we see any more of her before the season is over.
