There are 1,000+ players in the transfer portal, so the potential is there to land another big man if Shaka feels it's necessary.

The narrative that just because someone commits to Marquette, then de-commits, doesn't mean the sky is falling. Remember back when Ahmed Hill de-committed and went to VT with Brent and Scoop went apesh*t. Never made a big splash and wasn't even the best guard on that VT team. Now he's averaging 4.2 ppg in the G League.

Ahmed Hill would have been a really, really good player for Wojo to have around. So not the best example.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

This rings of Tyshawn Taylor

I hear there's a notable program in Aidoo's home state that unexpectedly needs a 7 footer.

That is rational and probably accurate. Also many degrees off of what CountryRoads was stating.
Was it? How so?

Well, that was Gaineys guy. Looks like he didn't get it done. Time to let him go too now and clean house.

Well Aidoo said he discussed it with his family and coaches and knows Gainey is more than likely not going to be around even if he stayed. We all know the current staff and roster is in flux. Let's see who Shaka brings to MU and less concerned with who is leaving or never even played.

Yeah but Shayok de-committing definitely was a bummer given what he turned into

Yes, he was. But how did Satchel Pierce turn out?

Based on what? Brent runs a system that features lots of 3-point attempts, so saying he would've made appreciably more shots under Steve isn't the best argument. He wasn't the star player in college many people here believed he would be.

He never said that he would've been better under Wojo. He said he would've been a "really, really good player for Wojo to have around". Ahmed Hill started 115 games for some good VT teams and averaged over 10ppg in 3/4 years. Maybe not a star but he was a very good college player.

Have some patience, FFS.

Hope he finds a good fit, he has every right to open up his recruitment. Not sure why some people here want to make it seem like a big deal he decommitted.

First part, totally with you.  Second part, umm cause he's a top 100 recruit who has been flying up the rankings and likely finishes top 50?  It's understandable he leaves after a coaching change, but it's a big deal cause those guys don't grow on trees

Silent Verbal

As other posters have said, with the way he was blowing up and him not having officially signed with MU, he may have decided to reopen his recruitment, a la Tyler Herro with UW.  Especially considering we were coming off a really crappy season.

Any time there's a coaching change, you're gonna have some roster turnover.  If Carton is in fact staying (and it looks from his tweet like he very well might be) then that is a massive win for Shaka and the program.  If Garcia also decides to stay, we might win the damn Big East next year.  And even if Garcia leaves, with Carton and the transfer portal still open, we could potentially be very, very good.

I'm excited for next year, and wish Aidoo the best wherever he ends up.

You saw how bad this team was this year right?

I did, and I was one of the most vocal Nojoers out there for the last few years.  But I strongly feel that the biggest problem with the team was Wojo, and the lack of high major talent outside of Carton, Garcia, and Lewis.  Carton and Garcia, next year, could be two of the best players in the Big East.  If we can get a couple transfers who can step in right away (something I think is very possible with Shaka) we could be really good next year.  We could also suck again.  For the first time in a while, I'm excited to see how it shakes out.

And a healthy Justin. If he stays healthy he'll be the best of the 3 - both here and in the Association.

Well, duh.   A mobile 7 footer with upside from North Carolina?    Roy would be committing coaching malpractice if he didn't call.
