What in the world is happening to Team USA in the Solheim Cup?  Extremely disappointing.  Will take a miracle comeback and we have more talent.
Do we?

Disagree.  Look at the rankings.  Plus we were on home soil.  Disappointing performance imo.

No one officially knows.

A whole lot of matches went to 18.   Europe won more of them.   And they have won more lately.   American superiority in women's golf is an American myth.   And God forbid there is ever a women's version of the President's cup.   The world team would embarrass either the US or European team.

Well, yes.  We would have serious issues in a President's Cup.  That Irish golfer destroyed our team.

Curious: How many folks truly get bummed if "we" don't succeed in these international golf competitions (or tennis or the Olympics or whatever)?

I mostly like drama. I want the Ryder Cup to come down to the very end. So I loved it when Justin Leonard hit that putt; but I also have enjoyed watching the Europeans pull off some incredible shots over the years, and the camaraderie they usually have had.

And I appreciate excellence, so I have had no problem watching Rafa, Roger and Novak kicking Americans' butts for the last 2 decades ... while also really applauding Serena's 2 decades of dominance. Had Serena been from Portugal, I wouldn't have appreciated her any less. As a tennis fan, it doesn't matter to me that America doesn't have any men who win majors. I've been a big fan of both McEnroe and Nadal.

I absolutely loved watching Usain Bolt. He didn't need to be an American for me to root for him. But I also rooted for Mary Lou Retton. Etc etc etc.

And of course, like many, I love a good underdog story. So the years where America is expected to win the Ryder Cup in a cakewalk, I get a kick out of "us" getting beaten. And vice versa.

But I just wonder if something is "ruined" for some of y'all because America doesn't win.

Not really.    The finish of the Solheim cup two years ago was incredible.   I generally enjoy a good underdog story.

I root for my country in sporting events that are pure human.  As for the Olympics?  It's nonsense because all animals can't compete and many would put a serious ass whooping on the eligible competitors.

Bryson out in Nevada competing in the Long Drive championships, and actually doing quite well.  Multiple 400+ yard drives, 2nd in his group, won a heat or two.  He won't win, but its cool that he's doing it and actually hanging with specialists.  He's had a fantastic 2 weeks PR wise.  Be great if he can continue turning it around and having fun with everything.

Thoughts if he can get to a consistent 400 yrd range?  The guy is a tireless worker.  I would imagine he's trying for even more distance.

Nah.  There aren't enough fairways that would give that benefit, plus its an unsustainable swing.  Its a fun side project and I'm sure there are learnings to be taken away for his game.  But being able to bomb in the 325-350 range consistently is more than enough.

Yea, I'm guessing there's a reason he's doing it 3 months away from the next meaningful golf he will have to play.

Are they testing for steroids in the final quarter of the year?

Ya.....I wish I had a little more pop.  Every time try one of these trampoline drivers I have no consistency.  Another 20 yards and I could probably shave two strokes.  :(

It gets tough in the later rounds to get one in play. With his  PGA Tour ability, Bryson may actually be able to pop one in play early and then go crazy on his later swings.

Bones getting back on the bag for JT.  I think this will be a really good move for both.  JT did pretty well with Bones as a fill-in when Jimmy Johnson was injured, and Bones had the luxury of waiting for the right bag to open up.

What's good for JT is bad for us, however.  Bones was an absolute asset on the telecast, he added a lot of insight to the call.  I'll definitely miss hearing what he has to say.

I think John Wood is already better than Bones.

I remember saying that when Johnny retired.

Then Azinger happened.

Azinger wasn't really a fresh voice, though.  He was ABC before they lost all golf and was on Fox.  He's terrible on NBC.  He makes Faldo look like Romo

I'm sure someone will offer a lot to Phil but I'd bet he'd rather do something like the Manning cast.

I personally like Curt Byrum and Craig Perks but they don't "move the needle".

I played in a golf outing foursome With Curt Byrum and Charley Rymer in 2004.  Byrum was an absolute gentleman and every time I hear his voice it reminds of what a good guy he was .

Charley Rymer was a very funny guy . He could hit the ball a mile but he had a very high hook that frequent went OB . Easy to see why he had to stop playing.

good luck snowman!  i'll be watching...just a thought-make a caricature of the number 8 swinging a golf club and the face of someone who just took a proverbial "snowman"  have fun!

Hey Everyone,

Keeping everyone updated (if anyone is interested). Snowman has been doing really well.  Product quality keeps improving since we launched.  We founded a strong source for each one of our product types.  Our biggest issue at this point is matching supply to meet the demand.  Our hats move fast.  We're taking a big leap on our first polo launch.  We have three designs in production (Hot Ice, Angry Snowman, and Scratch Golfer).

Would love anyone who is interested to take a look on IG (@snowman_golf).  Please DM me on there with any questions.  MU discounts still available.

Thanks,
Snowman
