Tiger got his first PGA Tour victory 25 years ago this week - the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational.

Damn ... where does the time go?

I remember when he used to be young. Hell, I remember when I used to be young ... though the passage of time has made that one more difficult to recall!

Any clue why the Bryson/Brooks match is only 12 holes? So Brooks doesn't get bored? Better for TV?

Time constraints.  The other ones have been so slow and it's hard to fill that much airtime

If they really want to get ratings , they should have made it a 12 round. Icing boxing match. Strap on 16 ounce gloves and have at it

2030 President's Cup at Bellerive.

Horrific choice, but that's the PGA Tour for you.

Feel terrible for the players that will have to spend a week in St. Louis.  Have to assume the international team will name Yadier Molina captain

Venue has hosted other big events . St Louis has no pro football team to compete with fan attendance .

Thanks, my plan is to play Ross Bridge and Oxmoor Valley...question is, if I can only do one course at Oxmoor, which should I go for....Ridge or Valley??  Or just suck it up and play 36 that day?

Greystone CC looks awesome.  Too bad I don't know any golf pros....

Ridge is a more mountain type course versus the Valley. Play both of you have the energy.

May have been my last round of the year.   If so, it was a blast.   Mid 50's spitting rain blowing sideways.    A course that can be benign, but in the conditions gets revealed as an inland links course, with false fronts but room to punch a 3 hybrid from 160 into the wind and let it chase up.    Not just geometry or video game golf, but taking ego out of the equation and making up shots in the conditions to get the ball somewhere near where you want it.    Starting it 30 yards off line and letting the wind bring it back.   I don't know that I ever took a full swing with an iron today, instead taking lots of extra club and hitting choke down knock down 3/4 shots below the wind.   7 irons from 115.  3 Woods from 175.    What an absolute hoot.    Didn't even take a score card.   It would have gotten soaked and disintegrated anyway.
I have played in these conditions a few times.   I understand why the British/Scottish/Irish so dearly love their seaside links courses.   Just having to invent shots.

Finally, with all of the precipitation, I got to play my own Rain Gear games.

RIP Lee Elder, a trailblazer who was the first Black golfer to play in the Masters.

In the run-up to the '75 Masters, Elder received death threats. He rented two houses near Augusta National and moved between them to keep any potential assassins guessing.

He ended up playing in the Masters 6 times, his top finish a tie for 17th place in 1979. He won 4 PGA Tour events and finished second 10 times. He also played for the victorious U.S. team in the 1979 Ryder Cup (though he didn't do that well, going 1-3). He went on to win 8 times on the Senior Tour.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where one should golf around Los Angeles?  I'm heading out that way next week and have no firm plans other than Sandpiper in Santa Barabara.

I presume Angeles National?
