I should've been more expansive. People without face coverings will not be allowed in polling locations. They may stay outside and have a ballot brought to them by a greeter. This is per the poll worker training I attended last week.

They cannot be prevented from casting a ballot, but they will not be allowed in the polling place.

WASHINGTON — While senior Trump administration officials said this week that Iran has been actively interfering in the presidential election, many intelligence officials said they remained far more concerned about Russia, which in recent days has hacked into state and local computer networks in breaches that could allow Moscow broader access to American voting infrastructure.

The discovery of the hacks came as American intelligence agencies, infiltrating Russian networks themselves, have pieced together details of what they believe are Russia’s plans to interfere in the presidential race in its final days or immediately after the election on Nov. 3. Officials did not make clear what Russia planned to do, but they said its operations would be intended to help President Trump, potentially by exacerbating disputes around the results, especially if the race is too close to call.

There is no evidence that the Russians have changed any vote tallies or voter registration information, officials said. They added that the Russian-backed hackers had penetrated the computer networks without taking further action, as they did in 2016. But American officials expect that if the presidential race is not called on election night, Russian groups could use their knowledge of the local computer systems to deface websites, release nonpublic information or take similar steps that could sow chaos and doubts about the integrity of the results, according to American officials briefed on the intelligence.

You've got a small leg to stand on but, and maybe it's just me, I'd personally find a bunch of people with assault weapons slightly more intimidating than a piece of sporting equipment. Maybe it's just a bit of false equivalency despite similar situations.

It shouldn't be hard to say, regardless of political leaning, that voter intimidation is bad, without dredging up something that happened more than a decade ago.

I mean, I don't think it's his only way.  But if one of your overt tactics is to make it harder for people to cast their vote, and throw up a bunch of false fraud claims in the process, then you're really not much of a believer in the democratic process.

30 years ago, not long after Al Gore invented the interwebs, all of the stuff we are able to do online now sounded like something from The Jetsons or 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I'm hopeful that there will be a way.

Yep. I manage all my financial assets online, do the vast majority of my non-grocery shopping online, even bought a car online. I can find a hard-to-find old gizmo halfway around the world and have it at my front door in a couple of days without ever interacting with another human being.

In terms of governmental things, I complete and file my state and federal income taxes online. And if I wanted to pay a service fee, I could also pay my real estate taxes online.

And although I can't yet vote online, I went online to request an absentee ballot. Then after completing and returning the ballot, I went (surprise!) online to verify that the ballot had been authenticated and registered into the MN Secretary of State's voting system.

The fact that we can't actually vote online is a relic that will change before we know it. And someday our incredulous grandkids or great-grandkids will be amazed that grandma and grandpa actually had to go to a local school or church to fill out a paper form to vote.

More people have already voted early in Georgia than they did in all of 2016. Over a week of early voting to go there, also open Saturdays.
