Will Trump try to pardon himself? Flynn?

A president can't pardon someone who hasn't been charged and convicted, so no on Trump.

Tomorrow's Washington Post piece coming out spoke with 42 people inside the West Wing. Reality is settling in there about Biden's victory, and, many are looking for jobs. They are doing this while managing DT.

Progressives cost Dems 2016? We're going to do this again?

Yeah I'm truly at a loss that the lesson we're taking from watching the dynamics of the two parties is "better to clear the field for one candidate and then try to guilt everyone into getting behind them with fire and brimstone threats about how bad the other candidate is."  Primary battles for the soul of a party aren't just good in the long term, they've proven beneficial to the candidate in the general time after time. Trump in 2016, Obama in 2008, Bush in 2000.  Elections to replace a termed out president favor hotly-contested primaries. Heck even challengers to incumbents like Bill Clinton and now Biden have arguably benefitted from the newsworthiness of the primaries. Those primaries don't damage the candidate that wins - they remind everyone how big the tent of the party can be.  The way in which the Democratic establishiment dealt with Bernie in 2016 made their tent appear smaller, because they were more paranoid about getting swing votes that are actually a myth than increasing turnout among their own base. Turning back on the part of the base that didn't turn out mistakes the symptom for the disease.

So he'll have Barr charge him and then pardon himself?

I agree. If a candidate doesn't represent your values, or at least not enough of them to earn your support, do not vote for that person.
But to vote for the other candidate, one who opposes nearly everything in which you claim to believe, just because you want to have a ballot booth temper tantrum is stupid and destructive.

I ask again, Bernie Bros, how did it work out for you? You got four years of Trump tearing down what you hold dear and then your candidate did worse in the next election cycle.
Do they give pyrrhic victory trophies? Cause they've got one coming.

Some of them will certainly say yes.  Sometimes you have to burn it all down to start over.  The party is too moderate, so you let the moderates have their fun.  When it blows up then you say, "See, I told you that you can't ignore us."  The country will certainly survive 4 years of Trump... and it did.

Who won their elections this time?  Progressives.  Who lost their seats?  Blue dogs and moderates.  Obviously, where these races are matter.  But now that we've seen the results of what happens when the DNC runs moderates for these seats, maybe try something different.

Didn't Ford pardon Nixon for any crimes "he may have committed"?

There are predictions that Trump will resign at the last minute, an have Pence issue a similar pardon.

OK folks.  The troop of statisticians at MUScoop has been working around the clock since Tuesday, and thy tell me a winner has been decided.

Happy to have so many members that participated by voting, and we're happy that the discourse here has mostly been civil.

Nonetheless, we do try to avoid too much political talk, and it's time to shut this thread down.

Goodnight, and [religious deity of your choice] bless.
