Hey guys, just wanted to offer any golf assistance/recommendations/resources possible to some fellow MU fans.  I am a PGA Professional and Director of Instruction at a private club outside of Minneapolis. Feel free to reach out with any golf questions you have, I'm happy to help however I can!

Can I get a tee time?

I would say amateurs would benefit from far less clubs

This. Less clubs.

Also, start walking instead of driving carts.

Walking rocks.    My 13 year old loves walking, pushing a cart, too.    So, this 54 year old has a walking partner again.     A course near here (fairly flat and easy) has a challenge that if a twosome is able to walk 18 in under 3 hours, they get a t-shirt.     Probably going to try to schedule a really early tee time and try to win a couple.

No walking for me unless it's colder than 70 degrees

I walk as much as possible, makes me feel more engaged.

Engaged, focused and faster. Carts have ruined golf.

Yes and no.   Some courses have designs that make carts a necessity.  And old guys.   And outings.   But if the course and the situation permits walking, the round flows better with walking and ready golf.

Golf courses that are designed for carts or are designed in a way that carts are a necessity is the problem.

Sometimes.   Some are designed on terrain that is used for skiing in the winter in Northern Michigan.   Do you want to climb ski hills to golf?   Some are designed around water and have 1/2 mile gaps between holes.    The ones that I agree with you about are the ones designed to allow a subdivision to be built in around through it.

Look, I infinitely prefer walking to carts.   I also recognize it is simply not doable on some courses.

Listen, I think we agree. I would maybe argue if a course belongs on a ski hill, but the first course I ever played was that way in Maple City.

Hey, know anyone to get onto Crystal Downs? Asking for a friend.

I just saw that replay.    I would be less sympathetic except I just had a run in with fire ants a couple of weeks ago and am a little more sympathetic now than I was then.    They hurt like hell.

Just last week had a foursome in front of me(all in individual carts) all clustered around one guys ball just in the fairway watching him hit even though their drives were all in the rough. This is why my walking foursome was waiting at least 5 minutes in every tee box.

Frustrating

I had a foursome behind my group in individual carts, that was glaring at us as they waiting on shots and hit into us on multiple greens. We had 4 people in 2 carts, none shot over 45 on the nine and we certainly played ready golf.  And I thought the pin in rules would be the worst part

Yeah, like I said in a previous post, had a 4some behind us hitting into us in the midst of play a 3hr 45 min round of 18 the other week
and we were waiting on the group In front of us every tee box(which I had no issue with)

might as well start our favorite slow play grievances...one of my big ones is the guy about 280 out on a par 5, waiting for the group to leave the green because "if he hits on the screws, i might hit them"

I play with that guy.  He also hits driver on every par-4, regardless of the risk/reward.  Played with his cousin one time who asked me what it's like playing with the dumbest golfer on the planet
