Another spot on call.

I understand it’s a joke, and honestly I deleted multiple snarky messages before typing this one.  I can imagine in your line of work (based on your posts), you are dealing with a lot.  You had a post back in April about not trying to worry your family, and that real sadness and fear were part of your everyday life.

I wish you and your close ones the absolute best.  Fingers crossed the golf and betting gods shine on me next weekend.

Anyone in the MKE have an instructor they enjoyed working with?

I'm playing alright, but having to scramble far more than I'd like thanks to an erratic driver. Have a few things I know are issues, but need a trained set of eyes to help me get rid of them. North or south of MKE would be easier for me than someone in Brookfield or points west.

Nick Watney tests positive for COVID-19 at Hilton Head.  Played with Luke List and Vaughn Taylor yesterday.  Showed up to the course despite exhibiting symptoms.  Got the news on the range with his caddie and Si Woo Kim nearby

Just finished a rough day at Forest Dunes plus a round in each direction of the Loop at Forest Dunes.   Practice your putting.

Played Fire Ridge (formerly Country Club of Wisconsin) on Sunday. Hadn’t played it in a few years. Reminded again how it’s a fairly nice course, that’s priced as such....that’s maintained like a crappy municipal dog track.

I understand there are COVID precautions and there was some rain over the weekend...but I’d say 90% of bunkers had SIGNIFICANT standing water and there were no rakes cause of “no touch“ precautions. I lost 9 balls on the round...and only 1 of them was due to hitting OB. The rest were simple shots into a trap that might as well have been a pond. Just a joke...in addition to the greens which may have all been cut at different points of the day. Some were as fast as Augusta on a Sunday, the very next hole might as well been putting on shag carpet in your living room

The drainage on that course is horrible. It's a fun layout, and usually the greens are nice and quick.

That's too bad that the maintenance has gone downhill. I played Mee Kwon recently and it was in excellent shape. Shorter course, but difficult greens and lots of uneven lies, so it's still challenging.

Paul Casey at 8-1 to finish in the Top 5 this week. Last 5 years at The Travelers, he's finished in the Top 5 four times, and the one year he didn't, he finished 17th.

Played Lake Arrowood yesterday, Lakes Course.  Took the drive down the road to Sand Valley.  Haven’t been before and was in awe of the property.  What a spectacular piece of earth

I haven’t played since early last year but given the lack of rain, I’d imagine the greens will be fast.  The first two holes can test your patience as far as greens go.  The ball, can and will, roll off the first if you don’t keep it hole high.

Lots of blind shots.  Few of the par-5’s are reachable.

Bunkers have always been iffy out there, even in good years.  It’s odd because the Trevino course has some of the best bunkers you can play out of.

Changed to a stack and tilt swing this season.

Dropped 7-10 strokes and increased distance by 20-45 yards across clubs

Not that hard. Miss right. Don’t hit a house on 1.

WOW. What handicap do you play to? Are you normally like a 90-95 a round guy? And what was your distance on say a 7 iron before this and then after? Cause those jumps are wild unless you’re a complete hacker, which I doubt given you’d overhaul a swing for the season

Played yesterday.  Thought it was ok in spots but bad in others.  2nd green is a wreck again.

Huge blow for golf coverage

I don't want to sound alarmist, as I would hate to drag politics, the economy, the impact on MU into this topic and offend some delicate sensibilities, but I think this might be a warning bell across the entire athletic world.    There IS golf right now.   One of the few sports.   FOX is getting out.     Is this a harbinger for,... I don't know.....say.....Big East basketball?

Golf related, if any of you ever get a chance to play Forest Dunes and the Loop, take it.    If you can find it on a map.   Spend the night.   Play the Loop in both directions.     Amazing.

I think the problem was that Fox paid a lot for not very much content.  The BE basketball deal is about half what the US Open deal was and generates dozens of events for Fox, FS1 and FS2.

Paint Touches posted a few sobering Tweets about what this means for the Big East. Not a lot of good signs, but also as FBM points out, not apples to apples.

Any reasonably priced nice courses in the Milwaukee area? I know Washington County has a good Twilight rate.

I've been playing since I was 5. Grew up at the club every summer.

90ish was me the last 2 summers

After the switch this summer I've been hovering 84-86/round.

I reviewed my distances and I was off in OP.

Average driver 240 (before) - 270 (after)
Average 5 iron 185 (before) - 210 (after)
Average 8 iron 150 (before) - 165+ (after)
Average 50 degree 100 (before) - 115 (after)

With this new approach, I'm not swinging any "harder". And I don't believe my swing speed is significantly improved (though I haven't measured). But I am striking the ball incredibly. Cleaner, center club face, consistent, hitting down on it with good lag. It's an incredible feeling to strike the ball well.

I've also almost completely rid myself of my big fade/slice. Now hits are mostly straight. Some slight draw. Occasional pull/hook
