I would just hope that it can be kept out of the gutter.   If not, I'll split.

Market up about 1.5% this morning following the announcement of temporary exemptions for cellphones, computers, etc.

Related from NYT DealBook:

A poll by Chief Executive magazine conducted last week found that CEO confidence is at its lowest level since spring 2020, the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Of the 329 corporate chiefs surveyed:

++76% see the tariffs adversely affecting their businesses
++26% plan to increase capex spending, down from 37% in the March survey
++62% forecast a slowdown or recession in the next six months.

"Although I am in support of moving more manufacturing back to the U.S., this is not how to do it," Peter Ensch, CEO of Sani-Matic, a manufacturer of cleaning systems in Wisconsin, said in the survey. "Initiating a trade war with our closest allies and business partners is simply bad business."

It appears that the aggressive rhetoric toward the Fed chair is getting the most attention.

All I'll say is I'm glad I've got a lot of cash to go with my mostly defensive group of stocks.

I went to 67% cash the day after the election. Never did anything like that before, but the combo of 5.6% plus an imbecile soon to be in charge made it an easy decision.

But make no mistake. Crashing the market is intentional.

It is not.

They are intentionally lowering the value of the dollar. The reason Trump wants the Fed to lower interest rates is so the market downturn is reversed and not blamed on him.

Fire Powell, blah, blah, blah.

Then, next he will question the efficacy of the American banking system. And again, the talking heads will be blah, blah, blah.

All done for a single purpose.

One thing my Scoop history suggests is that you are easily swayed by crackpot conspiracy theories generally embraced by those who are not terribly intelligent.

I've never held this much cash either. Wish I had done it sooner and at a higher percentage as you did, but also feel like I dodged a lot of damage nonetheless.

I am certainly not the first to say this, but even if the tariffs were completely reversed tomorrow, massive damage has already been done that will potentially never be fixed. We are a pariah state.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.
