Grew up on polenta, but no soy sauce. My working class Italian mother used some special meat and tomato sauce. It was outstanding.

Consumer confidence hits 'horrific' with fears last seen since Great Recession

From Seeking Alpha:

The markets just got slapped with a "horrific" consumer sentiment index report, said Samuel Tombs, chief U.S. economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics.

Unemployment fears surged to levels that were last seen in 2007-2009, during the great recession, as the March Michigan consumer sentiment index plunged to 57.9, from 64.7, which is well below the consensus at 63.0. The Consumer Price Index (or CPI) for all times fell in March to its lowest level since November 2022.

This is trouble, given that our economy is largely consumer-fueled.

Meh.  Golf courses are still totally booked.  How bad can it be?

First I'll need a need to know demand for the beer/ beverage cart...

Not a thing around here.  Here, pick up your drinks in the clubhouse and at the turn.

Top 10% of the population are making 50% of the purchases right now.

Golf likely tracks in that 10% range

I'm waiting for tower to invite me to his top 10% party.  I'll even supply the cocktail umbrellas.

My wife just purged the last batch.   Gents, while true, that post about golf was meant as sarcasm.  In the old server days, it would have been in teal.

In terms of equities, not much. This is one area where I'm smart enough to know what I don't know, so I do very little with individual stocks. I may move some money, and it'll likely change some of my habits outside the market, but for the most part I hope I can afford to ride out whatever happens (especially if I can manage to stay employed).

Thanks for the response. I wish you good fortune.

Love it when the smart money people here (not you, to my Knowledge) and elsewhere say the man at the top has little to do with the market going up or down. -4,000 is almost exclusive to one man.

Yeah, the saying is frequently true because the head of nation is usually creating a stable trustworthy environment for corps to operation and foreign corps/people to trust the market. That's the norm.

That norm has changed, so the saying is no longer true.

Feel like I 'owe" a response since I started the "It's goin down" thing.  I'm still in my savings years, so I'll still be buying regularly.  Though, as I did a few years ago, I expect some discounts in the coming months, so I'll probably cash out some bonds and buy a larger chunk of (indexed) equities eventually.

Thanks for this. It sounds like pretty prudent strategy to me, not that I'm an expert or anything.
