Man, those empty seats went fast this yesr

GGGG

So for all the doom and gloom projections here, it turns out the Marquette ticket office looks like they know what they're doing.

How many student section tickets were there in the BC? Seems like 3,100 out of 17,000 is a small percentage compared to what the BC held.

Slightly smaller percentage.  I think that the BC had a little under 4,000 student tickets out of a capacity of 20,000.

So 18.25% vs. 20%.
Have some patience, FFS.

Thanks. For some reason I thought the BC held like 17,500 for basketball and had about 5,000 student section tickets.

We R Final Four

I remember a big discussion about this last Spring.  MU purposefully reduced the allocation some but it was still well above many other schools.  Believe it or not, there are complaints that kids didn't have enough of an opportunity.  You snooze, you lose.

20,000?

Okay Google was wrong.

According to Wikipedia it is 18,850 for college basketball.  20K for concerts.

And these kids have been snoozing for at least 4 months.

Bucks sellouts at the Bradley Center were 18,717.

Marquette sold about 3,300 student season tickets. Those "big" games MU would put in 3,700 students in the building. Much talk was about students now having to pay the taxes and WCD fee. Guess they found the extra $40.

Keep in mind 1,500 of the seats at 17,500 Fiserv Forum are part of the suite loft that are sold at 85k each per year.

Also, the Bucks sold a record 10,000 season tickets. The previous record came 30 years ago; they sold 8,985 season tickets for the 1988-89 season

So we are looking at the high water mark until the next new arena?

The first 3 out of 4 were Marquette. Yes, the last was Bucks. Just an fyi, since it's the same arena.

Gotcha. Just seemed like there was some insinuation that the bucks sales impacted us and was confused

Good call shrinking the student section with the new arena.

There were some embarassingly empty student sections over the past few years.

oldwarrior81

remember the good old days with tents on the lawn of Lalumiere and ticket lotteries?
I wonder how many student tickets were issued for the games in the Arena/Mecca.

Probably fewer with games in the Auditorium.  I'll bet those bleachers on the stage were the "bees-knees" back in the 30's.

Hmm students can watch us lose to Depaul while spending their week's budget on beer or stay home and get drunk for pennies... I mean study.

This year no excuses but I'm not exactly surprised when there's one ncaa appearance in 5 years

Was I wrong? Were entire student section upper decks not empty for most games? Stating facts isn't ripping.

Shrinking it was a good idea by MU.

Some will recall it wasn't always that big at the BC. They expanded it during the Buzz years.
