Willie Mae's Scotch House, bring a sixer while you wait in line.

Cochon Butcher, sit on the curb and eat

Shaya, sit in the courtyard

Im very close to Cochon and I did take a peek a Shaya.  Ty Jump.   Do you know anything about Pesce?

2nd Cochon.

Also, this was a fantastic meal in a cool setting.  https://jacques-imos.com/  Don't know if it's "off the beaten path"

I've been to Jacques-Imo.  Excellent joint, ty.

Dakar looks enjoyable.  It's not every day I have Senegalese cuisine.  :)

Cochon is very good, had an incredible rabbit dish there, I prefer the casual, sit on the side of the street vibe of Cochon Butcher, his sister place. It's down the street. Incidentally, they also own and operate Peche. It's very good, sit at the raw bar, have the oysters, enjoy. You honestly cannot go wrong with any Donald Link property.

The first time I was at Shaya, admittedly awhile ago, I put in my one of the best meals I'd ever had category. At that time, it was owned and helmed by Alon Shaya, there was a big time falling out, lawsuits and the like, so I'm not sure if it's status now. I really enjoy that type of food, the fresh pita cooked near the courtyard is awesome, and the service is top notch. The service at all these places is excellent.

Great suggesting of Jacques-Imos. I'd call it off the beaten path for most.

Muggs, Saba is Alon Shaya's new joint. Can't vouch for the joint itself, but Shaya is an incredible chef.

Another great place that would probably not be on a visitor's radar due to cuisine is Domenica (Italian). Roasted Cauliflower, Squid Ink tagliolini, and Tagliatelle with braised rabbit are highly recommended.

Ha!  I have been to Donenica and stayed at the Roosevelt which I believe is next door!  And yes, I've had the cauliflower!  Tremendous dish!  There's just no way to replicate that at home even if you master the goat cheese/feta combo.   But I haven't had the squid pasta dish.  :(  Ty.

Breakfast:
District Donuts in Lower Garden District. Get the hot fried chicken &honey biscuit.

Lunch: Turkey & The Wolf - fried baloney sandwich in Lower Garden District
St James Cheese Shop in CBD. Excellent sandwiches.

Dinner: can't criticize any of the previous suggestions. Cochon is fairly decent. ;D

If for some reason that doesn't work out or you need a second option in CBD
Herbsaint or
Maypop for a twist on Asian, get the roti.

Great suggestions as always pbi!  Ty!  Is Marquette gear acceptable at Cochon and Herbsaint?  :)

The United 777's have not aged well. I realize they're pushing 30 years old and over the next decade they'll be phased out. Definitely a retro experience and not in a good way.

Brother Dish:

United has two groups of 777-200s. The first is the Polaris equipped 777-200s. Those fly overseas to Asia and Europe. They have the best United experience, which still is cramped and sucks compared to the old United First but is better than United Business of pre-2018.

The second group is the "domestic" 777-200s. Those have the old eight-across business class seats, some of which face backward. These are the battlewagon crap United throws at UDPs (Unprofitable Domestic Passengers) and these are truly awful. This is what you see to Hawaii and from the west coast to Newark.

United's soft product is among the worst in the world airline business. I just flew to Munich on a 767 in Polaris and their meals were God-awful crap I would not have fed my late dog. The flight attendants were surprisingly good but everything else about the service was so low class that most folks with any shame would be embarrassed.

And, for the record, I was 1K for more than 20 years and a million miler on United.

I just flew one, on what Im assuming was a positioning flight, from SFO to IAH.  I had just gotten off a Polaris flight from Asia, so the contrast when I got bumped up to business/first on the old 777 was really stark.  And to cap it off, my seat was broken and didn't even recline.  The footrest elevated but the back just clicked and whirred.

The catering is terrible, absolutely, but the rest of the soft product is good.  Food and beverages honestly.  And if you include FA service, then its scraping the bottom of the barrel.

But the amenity kits are consistently good and the bedding partnership with Saks is arguably the best in the industry, worldwide, and has been applauded as so by a number of travel bloggers/sites.  Ive been lucky to fly business on ANA, Singapore, Garuda, and Lufthansa over the last few years and while they all do pretty much all the business stuff better than United, the pillows and duvet you get in Polaris outpace them all.  My wife is a bedding snob and even she was impressed by the United bedding when we flew Polaris and may or may not have accidentally brought it home for naps and light use.

I know you loved old United First, but I'll trade a Polaris lie flat for a wider/more roomy limited recline seat any day.  I got a random Air India business upgrade last year on a 4 hour domestic flight in a seat that mirrored the old United First style, and wanting to nap for a bit, I would gladly trade the space for reclining more.

Waiting on SWA to decide what they're going to do about our flight from IND to CUN through MCO on Saturday....

You guys should get private jets

My attorneys are still working on my carbon offset credits for PR purposes.  Once that is sorted, I'll call my Gulfstream rep back.

IMO, you should be fine.  48 hours after storm that should be a bit chaotic but not destructive (at least to Orlando), I'd think flights will probably be fairly steady.

I'm at Pesce because it's a 5 min walk from my hotel.  I'll give my review shortly.

Pesce was solid Jump.  I did sit at the raw bar for oysters and also had their Drum/Redfish dish with coconut rice and collard greens.  It was quite good but with one caveat.  The coconut rice was actually fried like a boudin ball which I felt was totally unnecessary.  Especially because the sauce was a wonderful sponge for a traditional jasmine coconut rice.  If they're gonna do that add a demi-baguette to soak up the sauce.  My only other mild criticism is that their beer list could use an upgrade.

Jump,

New Orleans is a tremendous food city.  I decided to stay an extra day to hit the WW2 museum for the 2nd time.  I usually don't pimp hotels but the Higgins was outstanding.  Great rooftop bar and lots of vets stay their because of the proximity to the museum.  I've met some phenomenal people that deserve admiration and respect.  Very few WW2 vets are still with us.  All Scoopers should visit the National WW2 museum in NOLA as well as the WWI museum in Kansas City.
