Oh, you guys got to take 'fun' classes?  The 'fun' classes when I was in school were History of Jazz and Acting for Non-majors.

Ahh yes, History of Jazz - I took that last semester of senior year just to get to 12 credits to keep my scholarship. Fun times.

Theory of coaching basketball, taught by Majerus was awesome. I think all the freshmen players were in that one. I am pretty sure that when he explained the game plan against Minnesota, he said if they won and we could show him a ticket stub that we attended, we would get an A. We did and I did and yep, an A.
Philosophy of coaching was decent. Advanced First Aid and CPR was supposed to be fun, but included a human anatomy section that was killer.

That's really what it boils down to -- if you focus all your attention and training in one area, it's quite possible that you won't have even basic skills in another area...but it still surprises me. Probably says more about me being a slow learner than about anything else.
Yup, and it's why you should let your kids multisport when younger. Not only is there less chance of burnout, those other sports hone different abilities which will improve your focus sport.

TSmith was on the chess and math teams, plus played a mean flute. Well rounded.

I believe I only had three true electives at MU.

Looks like Nico Mannion is joining Baskonia. Wonder if the Arizona boys ever say hi again to the NBA

Scoop’s TSmith (34, Inc.) was on the checkers and arithmetic teams and played the spoons.

We were possibly in Rick's class together. I loved that class.

People wildly underestimate the complexity of mastering the spoons.

Markus, who knows, look at Mike James and Pat Beverly.  But he needs to make one more jump.  He’s been electric a bunch, but I think he needs to average 20+ in Liga ACB and EuroLeague to have a shot.  Which honestly isn’t THAT far fetched given numbers he’s put up.

Mannion has just been a complete PFFTT.  The Virtus Bologna move made sense given his Italian roots and National team play.  But whereas Markus went to Europe and tore it up, Mannion was just a guy…only 15-20 min a game and pedestrian stats.  He’s not even gonna be close to the starting line up at Baskonia

The latest from Ben Steele discussed how Korei Lucious and Bryquis Perinehave organized workouts and games for pro ballers in June & July. Mentions of Kevon Looney, Duane Wilson, Tyler Herro, James Batemon, Dwight Buycks and Alondes Williams etc.
This is where pro basketball players in Milwaukee play pickup games in the summer

I'm as big a Markus fan as the next guy, but "tore it up" is a bit of an overstatement. He had a couple "Markus" games but also a lot of meh. Pretty low blk percentage

He averaged 16+ on 54%/42% shooting splits playing less than 20 min a game as their 6th man.  14+ a game in only 20 mpg in the Euroleague against the best of the non-NBA best.  If a rookie did that in the NBA, tore it up would not be out of line.  If a rookie scored 28 or more points 5 times in their first 12 games in the NBA, Twitter would be going crazy.  Also, mind you, the play 40 min games in Europe, so thats more like 30+

I was looking at the 2K24 ratings. They have different groupings of players. One is by college. They must do it by multiple players as there are only a few colleges listed. I was surprised to see Marquette had as many as UNC and this excludes Juan Toscano-Anderson. I’m not sure what omits they or other schools have but scrolling the list I thought this was impressive especially since there was a time wandering in the desert for MU.

Thanks for those, tower.

In the first one, we learn that "Prosper led the Golden Eagles to the Big East regular-season and tournament titles." And here I thought the BEPOY and BETOP led us, but sure.

In the second, Kidd calls O-Max "NBA ready" and says Prosper will play "a lot" and could even be a Game 1 starter.

Good stuff.
