Qualifying offers
For a player to become a restricted free agent, his team must submit a qualifying offer to the player between the day after the last game of the NBA Finals.

The qualifying offer is a standing offer for a one-year guaranteed deal, which becomes a regular contact if the player decides to sign it.

Markus does not have a 2022 qualifying offer yet . That $ 1.8 million figure is what the offer would be if it was made .

Last year he had a qualifying offer for a two way with a 50k guarantee. He obviously made the team and earned the full amount of his contract for the year .

The Nuggets have a deadline of June 30,2022 to make Markus a qualify offer. Here is a list of all the players on their current roster, it does not include the recently drafted players. They had two first round picks , a second and Gillespie signed a two way.

There are 17 players on an NBA Roster. 15 plus two two-way. 3 of those spots are taken by the two first round draft picks ( guaranteed contracts) and Gillespie. So that leaves 14 available and lots of players competing .

I agree but including Gillespie on a signed two way, that's eight guards in front of Markus now, with Markus and Gillespie basically tied for last place.

As of today Markus not on Denver's Summer League team.

Saw that coming after mid season benching when injured players returned.
He is 29 and great back story on his earning roster spot, along with NBA ring. Can't take that away from him.  Believe the NBA run is over.

He will get a spot on a team. Will it be much of a role? Probably not.

Markus is just a little bit late to the NBA. The three point specialist is a dying breed with everyone on the floor now capable to some degree or another of knocking down the trey ball.
