So, do we do a rushed number retirement ceremony for him now?

I assume you're referencing the retirement of Curry's number at Davidson, but you must have missed the story last month where he finished his undergrad degree so that he could be retired.  Davidson has a rule that only graduates can have numbers retired.  So that was clearly not rushed, just happy timing.

And there is no way in hell that Juan's number is retired by Marquette.

Haha I approve of this.

Off the top of my head I can't remember what number he even wore at MU.

Let's put it this way,

Justin would be getting the number retired a lot quicker than Juan would.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

That's why I pointed out new #10 Zach Wrightsil  ;)

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Jamal Cain got a summer league invite from the Miami Heat. They do have a history with former Marquette players.

No, I was referring to the rushed retirement for Wade, even though we had the same policy as Davidson.

Darryl Morsell has signed with the Utah Jazz...good for him:

This is a good opportunity for Darryl. Essentially getting a camp invite and spot on the Jazz G League team.

I don't think he is promised or is automatically getting a G league spot.  I believe he gets a camp invite, plays the summer league and if he earns a spot in G League, then it happens.  The other 29 teams will be watching who gets waived after summer league and can invite them to their appropriate team to build a G League roster.  Wishing him all the best in his efforts.

Maybe not automatically, but most of the guys with these section 10 do get the G League with the team they signed the Section 10 with , DJ Carton had the same deal. Getting to the camp is a big positive.

Exactly Hermie, not guaranteed but there is a probable good outcome for a spot. You never know how he will perform in camp and I hope he displays good skills.

I think Daryll offers a lot . He has size, is a proven defender with a tough attitude , His offense improved quite a bit over his prior years.  If he can get in a G League environment and continue to trend upward some teams may have an interest.

I don't think the Nuggets signing Collin Gillespie to a two way deal helps Markus cause . Either has to beet our Devon Reed for final two way spot or make the team as the 15th player now. Hope Markus has an outstanding summer league .

Markus has been over traded and drafted.  Believe his two year is over and be a miracle if he gets a contract.

Guards in front of him:

Barton
Murray
Campazzo
Forbes
Hyland
Morris
Rivers
Reed

Braun - drafted
Gillespie - two way.

Yes., Markus has used up his two way deal time with the Nuggets. He does have a 1.8 million qualifying offer from the Nuggets. Rivers and Forbes are unrestricted free agents, Reed and Compazzo are restricted free agents. He may not make the Nuggets roster, but he will get paid.

Otule's Glass Eye

Markus has not yet had the chance to play in the summer league in his 2 NBA years, feel like that's a setting where he could put up a couple 30 point games and get some buzz

Markus needs to make some teams roster to earn that qualifying offer. Wishing him the best of luck.

Heres what I found:
Qualifying offers
For a player to become a restricted free agent, his team must submit a qualifying offer to the player between the day after the last game of the NBA Finals.

The qualifying offer is a standing offer for a one-year guaranteed deal, which becomes a regular contact if the player decides to sign it.
