Juan Toscano-Anderson is a finalist for the new Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award in the NBA (along with Melo, Jrue Holiday, Harrison Barnes, and Tobias Harris).  I think they're trying to make this into something like the NFL Man of the Year award.

If JTA were to win this award I think the University would probably promote it pretty heavily, since it seems to fit the Jesuit mission.  Would be good publicity for the program and MU as a whole.

That said, they'll almost certainly give it to one of the bigger name guys.

The good news his name is on the list. Which hopefully means the league in general sees Juan as having a durable career, which is highly beneficial to MU.

Another solid night for Jae and Suns. Hope they can keep this momentum up.

Markus should write a letter to see if he can get more playing time

Seriously, it was odd that Malone chose to play Markus only 1 minute in G3 and not at all in G4.

I'm not at all claiming Markus would have made the difference. But the Denver guards, by and large, sucked. And the team needed something. I'd have tried anything and everything, including throwing a guy out there who could make three 3s in a minute to jack up the crowd.

Obviously, Malone knows his team better than I do or anybody else here does, and he did a good job getting his team to the second round without Murray and Barton. It's just a little strange that he couldn't find even 3 or 4 minutes for Markus in a "nothing else is working so why the hell not?" move.

Markus already has played more NBA minutes and spent more time on an NBA roster than many (most?) thought he would. I hope he has earned a "real" contract for next season.

Jae with a big first half. Found his shooting stroke again. Hopefully the Suns can close out the series tonight.

Man, I was going to say that I hope we bring Scott Merritt in to go to the game with the kid... but he's an associate head coach for UW-Madison's Women's team. Maybe Tony Smith instead?

Edit: For the Tosa East connection

Holloman was also visiting today. Guessing they are both there.

I might be wrong, but I think his visit ended yesterday morning.  His mom posted in the past tense thanking Shaka for the visit yesterday evening.
