Quote from: Jockey on December 03, 2024, 09:54:21 PMThe real knock on him is his age. Guys that old are rarely lottery picks (see Dalton Knecht). He may well be good enough to be a lottery pick, but I would be very surprised if it happened.

He's a better scorer than Knecht, but not quite as good of a knock down shooter.

28 and 30 minutes in last two games.  Duncan injured last night- playing time likely to continue.

Yeah...no.  Just the opposite, honestly.  Knecht averaged 22 points per game last year...at Tennessee.  That might as well be 30 ppg for your average high major program.  He's averaging 12 ppg in the NBA right now.  Knecht is a bucket.  He's a good shooter, but never shot above 40% from 3 in college.  Kam shot 41% from 3 last year and is currently shooting 44% from 3 this year.

Tim Duncan came out of retirement and joined the Suns?

It is all role based. Knecht profiles as a knock down shooter in the NBA. Kam is much more diverse in his offensive game as a 3 level scorer.

I feel like you haven't watched Knecth much.  He scores at all 3 levels (including the midrange, which Kam does not) and finishes above the rim.

Knecth can clearly shoot.  But he's a bucket getter and playmaker.  Again, he averaged 22 ppg playing for Tennessee.  He was the 2nd best player in college basketball last year, even with his lack of defensive ability.

I've watched plenty of Dalton Knecht. Even enough to know how to spell his name!

NBA is a different animal than NCAAB. Kam's game is set up to translate to the NBA IMO where Knecht profiles as primarily a 3 point shooter at that level (Especially in his situation on the Lakers).

117 of his 187 shots have been from behind the arc for the Lakers.

My post wasn't meant to compare the players. It was to show that older guys tend to not be lottery picks.

Jockey

But, if we are comparing them, I agree completely with Wades.

Knecht was a better prospect. Longer, maybe quicker, and a better 3 point shooter.

That being said, I think Kam will be in the NBA next year.

Unless Kam is going to run point, I don't think his game translates nearly as good as you think it does. He plays below the rim and not enough of a knock down shooter.

Jimmy Butler wearing out his welcome?  Stop the presses!

The Sultan

He's is going to decline his player option for next year (which is smart), and honestly he is too risky for a Supermax extension, so trading him is the best option with them not going anywhere this season.

Henry is older, but if you are a serviceable big who can guard the rim and hit some shots, 27 isn't too old. Brook Lopez didn't get to the Bucks until he was 30. Not saying that Henry is a a Brook replacement or anything, but he's of a similar mold.

There is no way this photo is of Henry Ellenson. He looks like a cross between Danny Ainge and Toby from The Office.

The Miami Heat left it all on the court during their recent matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Tyler Herro sent the game to overtime, but the Heat were ultimately handed a 125-124 defeat in OT.

Apart from Herro, Jimmy Butler had a terrific game. The 35-year-old carried the team on his back with 35 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists.

According to StatMuse, Butler became the first player in 40 years to record a 30-point triple-double with 0 fouls and turnovers.

I think he's going back and forth on off nights to get some mins.  He played 2 mins last night in the Knicks blowout too.
