Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

In barçelona right now. They have bars with these things called Pinxtos (pinchos) for 1€. Foods that have toothpicks in them and you just grab them as you're hungry and at the end the bartender counts the toothpicks and that's how much you pay. It's fantastic. Why does America not have these?

Aside from the obvious that everyone would eat and then never pay.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

There is a great restaurant in Seattle's Belltown with that name. We will stop there on occasion and have never been wrong.

In Japan, yakitori ya have street front counters where one eats their fill of a variety of yakitori. When finished the master counts the sticks and you pay accordingly.

In Jamaica the bartender puts the Red Stripe bottle cap in front of you, before you leave he will tally the number of bottle caps to determine your tab.

Prayers.

My family was discussing something similar last night.  6 months ago when we made vacation plans we offered the kids their choice beach time in Florida or Charlottesville to revisit Monticello, visit UVA and visit Shenendoah NP to walk a trail.  They picked beach else we would have been in Charlottesville the middle of last week.

Good call by the kids.

True story:  Back in 1976, my family was just leaving Philadelphia as we heard about this new thing that had just broken out in town called Legionnaires' Disease.  Fortunately, we weren't affected.  :-\

I don't normally buy food at BK, but the last time these were available, I would drive thru and get an order on my way to work almost every morning.

The Clemson, Arizona and Oregon State basketball teams were all staying in the same hotel where this happened in Barcelona.

Thank goodness kids are more interested in tans than history!

That and we visited Charlottesville 5 years ago.  Tur story: Our family photo from Monticello ended up on our Christmas card.  My wife had to spend the next few months after Christmas explaining to family back in Poland that this was NOT our new house and we did not move.

Body boarding in the Atlantic for a few days definitely had much more appeal!
