The apple debate reminds me of a German foreign exchange student who stayed with us several years ago.   When we took her to our local apple orchard in the fall, she was amazed with the apple selection.  We asked which kind they had back home, and she answered "red and green."

That is because Germans only see things as black or white.

I hope we can all agree that Red Delicious are the worst. Who buys those tasteless things?

Yep. Growing up, I thought that was the only variety of red apples.

Yep. Balls of Styrofoam with a red peel.

A number years ago a neighbor and I took our kids apple picking and as soon as we got there, she wanted to head straight to the Red Delicious section of the orchard.

I was like, "I'm sorry, we can't be friends anymore."`
Have some patience, FFS.

My favorite apple is AAPL, which continues to perform well for many Scoopers except one.

Just be glad you didn't rub your eyes too....
Or take a leak.
Or scratch yourself, ask DUNKS about it.

Come on - it's just a jalapeño not a habanero or ghost pepper

I thought this was interesting. For the record, I also do not think Germans are funny. (HT: Marginal Revolution)

Don't sleep on Jazz apples!
Oh please.  Might as well tuck into a pile of mushy Macintosh's while you're at it.

Thank God, finally comparing Apples to Apples.  So refreshing.

I love McIntoshs early in the season if you can get them with a firmer skin.  Otherwise I go with the tartness of a Granny Smith.

Honestly, I almost spit part of the bite of a golden delicious apple on my desk when I read this.  That is not a joke.  I was eating an apple while reading about people's favorite apples... Good Lord, how has my life come to this point?

Honeycrisp is the only apple worth eating in it's unprepared state.

They're good, but not THAT good -- too expensive! My wife begs the differ so naturally we only buy them.

Agreed.  They're really good but I wait for them to go on sale.  Same with Jazz apples.

Pink ladies, Gala, and Fuji are all great apples at about half the price.

After years of eating Chicago Taffy Apples I have become a Granny Smith addict. It just makes my face hurt as well as the Lip Smacking Favor.

Ahh, the good old Taffy Apple sale at school. Nothing beat the Affy Tapple brand.

Speaking of things that are sour, anybody remember War Heads?
