The apple debate reminds me of a German foreign exchange student who stayed with us several years ago.   When we took her to our local apple orchard in the fall, she was amazed with the apple selection.  We asked which kind they had back home, and she answered "red and green."

A number years ago a neighbor and I took our kids apple picking and as soon as we got there, she wanted to head straight to the Red Delicious section of the orchard.

I love McIntoshs early in the season if you can get them with a firmer skin.  Otherwise I go with the tartness of a Granny Smith.

Agreed.  They're really good but I wait for them to go on sale.  Same with Jazz apples.
