The incredible 6 OT Big East Tourney UConn vs Syracuse game is on ESPNU.   No words for how amazing that was.  I remember being in a hotel at Disney World watching until the wee hours.

Funny (or maybe ironic), you can't visit Disney or watch live basketball right now.  Also amazing, but not in a good way.

IMO, "lady friend" sounds like an escort.

I generally introduce theBabyDavid's mother as, "My Baby Mama"

Strange feeling last night with no basketball, like I forgot something or left the light on in the garage.

True that.  Crazy.

Everyone fill out their census form yet?

We still haven't received anything. When did you get yours? How long is it?

Funny I should read this right now.   With school cancelled, we are looking for educational sessions.  I just finished a 30 minute session about the Census with my two sons.

First, I went to Ancestry.com and brought up their g-g-g-grandfather's 1900 Census form. We went through all the data, finding out he was a postman.  (In he's spare time, he was a moderator for Ye Old Scooper, a forum about cleaning up after horses.)

The 1940 Census had their grandfather (my dad) at age 7.  Turns out their family had an extra person in their house: a servant from North Dakota who made $400 per year.  I think my GGFather was loaded, he made "$5000+" per year.  $5k in 1940 = $91k today.

Then .. we opened the 2020 Census letter.  It's not a form.  It's an online code .. you enter it into a website, and answer the census questions about who lives there.   There weren't any cool questions, like how many TVs you have or whatever .. just a question about do you own your home/have mortgage.

It did ask .. what race .. but also your origins, like Irish or Italian.  9 of 16 of my GGGparents are Irish, so I put that.  But .. like most Americans, we're all a big mix.  What do you put?

Also, it turns out we do not have a servant, which totally sucks.

I trust this person was documented and they paid in for the servant's Social Security

Chances: Zero.   Social sec started in 1935, this was 1940.   It was certainly a cash transaction .. even a real company, payroll would have been a total bitch, calculating everything by hand with one of these suckers:

Any chance the 'servant' was female and your family was LDS?

Your GGfather's servant made more than my GGfather, who made a couple hundred in 1940.

Not too surprising that you grew up to be a mod and I am a just humble poster....

We are deciding where we want to be counted. We technically live in Illinois right now, but are selling our house effective 5/1, and splitting our time between Wisconsin and Nevada after that.
Have some patience, FFS.

The online form I filled out asked "where are you going to be living on April 1st" .. retrospectively, that doesn't make sense, they'll be taking data all year.

It makes sense from a "snapshot " reference point.  The hope is that most will online comply by April 1.

Day 2 - Social Distancing @ Home Log

I was bored and opened up the emergency Hostess Snoballs.  They are smaller than I remember.  It wasn't an emergency and now I regret my actions.

Do plastic surgeons practice their liposuction skills peeling that layer of fat off a Hostess Snoball?

Obviously you are a pro-cho. Hostess snacks, and really all processed sugar snacks start and end with twinkies. End of discussion.
