I was disappointed Daniel the golden retriever lost at Westminster yesterday.  Standard poodles aren't my thing.

Goldens are great, but we've had 4 standard poodles over the last many years, and they are absolutely great dogs. They also don't shed and graze which means you can put all their food out in the morning and they'll eat when they wish -- never too much. Obviously that fancy trim is out. Joe Garagiola used to say it kept their joints warm as hunting dogs -- imagine a teacup size poodle hunting geese!
