The descriptions and renderings on the website look pretty impressive. Says it's opening Spring '19, so it must be pretty close....

From what I have read, unless he is the strength and conditioning coach for sports other than basketball, he will be staying in the Al.
Have some patience, FFS.

Do you know if they added to the S&C staff? I thought he was basically the coach for all sports.

Todd has staff. If you look at the AD directory, Todd is the Director for Sports Performance, and he has four Assistant Directors. https://gomarquette.com/staff.aspx They list the sports each covers, and it looks like Todd has men's hoops and men's lacrosse.

So it looks like Todd will be in both the Al and the new facility....

I had a sponsored ad show up on Facebook this morning from "Wisconsin Badger fans".  I've never enjoyed so much "hiding" an ad and marking "Irrelevant" as the reason. Although I'm probably using irrelevant in a more universal context than Facebook

The real question is what in your profile made the algorithm believe that it was relevant to begin with?

Looks like Scoop might need its own McCarthy to start rooting out the new red threat amongst the MU faithful.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

After we played Wisconsin in December, I kept getting suggested articles in Chrome on mobile about upcoming Badger games.  I would diligently remove them, only to have more show up later.  I started ignoring them and clicking other articles I actually found interesting and they eventually went away.

Kind of related... I enjoy the MCU movies and Game of Thrones... but I started getting too many articles to the point that new movies and episodes would be spoiled by the flood of info I'd get.  I started trying to reject article suggestions, ads, etc and/or mark them as irrelevant or not interested but they just keep coming.

I've had to completely block some content providers that I would otherwise be interested in, just because I couldn't stop the flood any other way.

Unsolicited advice: delete/deactivate your facebook. You won't actually miss it when it's gone.

At least, I don't.

I've actually never had a facebook account, ad trackers exist outside of facebook.

I mean, sure, but this was specifically brought up by MUEng92 mentioning ads from facebook.

Or you could simply "refresh" your algorithm by doing some porn searches.

I figured someone would ask that.  My only guess is that it had something to do with googling the Madison academic calendar recently since my least favorite daughter goes there.  (She could not be less interested in sports so it could be worse)

A couple of Amazon ad pet peeves:

A few months ago, I bought a stuffed unicorn as a sort of gag gift for my grown up daughter (who used to be into unicorns big-time). Now I keep getting ads for all sorts of unicorn toys, clothes and such. I understand it - they probably think I have a 5-year old who is still into unicorns - but it's really annoying.

I once bought a treadmill - clearly a one-time (or once in a LOOOONG time) sort of purchase - but I constantly get ads for more treadmills. Like, seriously? I need a new treadmill every year?

Seems like they oughta get better at identifying things I really might want...like since I have bought hundreds of books already, focus my ads on books by the same or similar authors.

This reminds me .. What's the deal with Instagram?

So .. apparently teens shun Facebook and use Instagram instead.  My 12 year old started using it a few weeks ago, so I've been observing more carefully.

Instagram is owned by Facebook.  Instagram is clearly the lesser platform.   Far less functionality.  Less ability to tune your feed.

Facebook is constantly getting slammed for privacy issues .. Instagram has like zero privacy controls!

As far as I can tell, someone follows you*, that's it, you can't stop them from seeing your posts in the future (unlike Facebook.)

* Yes, you can mark your account private and then you need to accept "follow requests."   Seems like most people are public.

Maybe that's the difference?  On Instagram, you have zero expectation of privacy and everything is public?  How that's a plus, I know not.

Instagram?  Most use Snapchat.  Or if they use Instagram, they use the "story" function that doesn't keep their posts permanently.

I don't use Instagram, but maybe it's a plus because at least they tell you it's public...unlike Facebook and other platforms that shared "private" information.

Right you are .. so if I want my kid to be cool, I've got to get him on Snapchat.  Got it.
