All the Scoopers in the Carolinas and Virginia, please be safe. A year ago I was in the same spot and Florence looks as nasty as Maria.

jsglow jr. is waiting on orders to leave San Juan for the southeast.  All the Logistics guys are already staging stuff and there's lots of DSA reserve training going on now so FEMA can get thousands of boots on the ground quickly.  In his Continuous Improvement role, he expects to redeploy in about 10 days.  They're really starting to thin the San Juan JFO.  Obviously this will accelerate things.

Being in downtown Minneapolis, it can be difficult to find a good deal on lunch. There's a place near me that's weird af, but kind of good. They specialize in Mexican and Asian. Tomorrow for $7.25 I will get:

gyro meat
grilled veggies
fried rice
side salad with tons of available toppings
pita bread
a pop

What a bargain. Tomorrow is the gyro value plate special and I try to hit most Wednesday there... other days are tacos and burritos on special.. lots of people pair burritos with 4 pieces of sushi.

Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Edited to add: just checked their website and saw they’re not as widespread as I thought. Only OH, PA, WV, NC, MD and VA. Well, if you find yourself in one of those states, don’t be afraid to grab a sandwich if you stop at Sheetz for gas.

So you're saying most of us are Sheetz out of luck.

Grilling Salmon paired with a bottle of chardonnay!

Did grilled salmon a few days ago. The simplest of recipes - just olive oil, sea salt and pepper, grilled skin side down. So incredibly easy and so incredibly good!

Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Met a gal pal for trivia night at a bar tonight and had a salad.

We came in second behind a team of 8 people.  They split a $30 gift card and we split a $20 gift card.

Who were the real winners here?
Have some patience, FFS.

We have a crap-ton of eggplant from the garden this year and tried an eggplant hummus tonight.  F'n awesome!  Wound up just putting the grilled salmon in the fridge cause that + a baguette was dinner.

Love hummus, but have never found an eggplant recipe I liked. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

I used https://www.thespruceeats.com/easy-vegan-baba-ganoush-eggplant-hummus-3377666

I altered it by putting more eggplant (i'd call it 2 mediumish, certainly not small), 3X the garlic, and basil instead of parsley.

Did you grill the eggplant first?

Roasted Broccoli and Cauliflower topped with Anchovy Butter. I was too tired to throw the skirt steak on the grill, I did however manage to open a bottle of wine. Anchovy Butter was redonkulous.
