Any chance that's an April Fool's joke?

Assuming it's not, it would be fantastic to have the kind of money that would allow you to indulge that kind of pettiness.
Also, the old house is IMO kind of fugly.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

I googled that 'folk legend' and nothing came up.

Today is the first day in April... soooooo....

Also, the byline...

And the first sentence:  "The Compost has confirmed...."

I am reminded of an anecdote from a MU religion class .. about Thomas Aquinas and how his mates would mess with him:

"Thomas! Thomas!" two snickering friars called, rousing their brother who was bent over his books. "Look out the window—there are pigs flying about in the sky!" Thomas rose at once and bounced to the window incredulously. The friars laughed.

Putting the finishing touch on the jest, the saint responded, "I would rather believe that pigs can fly than believe that my brethren could lie."

I agree with Thomas.

'Topper - how could you in good conscience try to deceive us?!?

It's not even Easter without Peeps.

Is their slogan still "Peeps - you can really taste the chemicals!"?

I really hate those things, but my wife swears by them, but only if they're stale.
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

My kids love them. I don't know why.

I'm pretty sure if you ever got ahold of the recipe, it would read:

1. Get styrofoam.
2. Cut into Easter-themed shapes.
3. Soak for a month in sugar and food coloring.

A couple of seconds in the microwave and they regain their freshness.

Damnit, I was careless at the grocery store and bought a box of Cap'n Crunch (no berries.)

Now I'm going to have to go back to the store and get a box of Oops All Berries so I can mix them together.

And I thought I was the only one !
I prefer them "properly aged" as well.
Usually takes about one week for them to toughen up to perfection.

GooooMarquette

So not being a Peeps 'aficionado,' I have to ask: do they age in the wrapper, or too you need to unwrap them to achieve the ideal staleness?

Once you break the seal of the wrapper, they become stale within seconds.
Have some patience, FFS.
