The fact that it still had the old school "tyme" sign back in 2014 is funny.

Honestly I don't remember this place at all.  Was that its name back in the late 80s?  I usually didn't stray too far down Wells.  The Old Gym on 17th was about as far as I would get.

Another one bites the dust.    I was there a couple of times.

Hegarty's, The Gym, O'D's, mostly.   Import night at the Ardmore.   Occasionally O'Paget's.   More pool tables.   It is my recollection they carded less.
My junior year roommate and I did a couple of death marches.   Starting early, having one drink in as many different bars as we could until becoming too drunk to continue.

Same, throw in avalanche and less ODs and gym junior and senior year, Theos by the Y sophomore year and the occasional Thoma’s and Conways.

I recognize this will cost me my MU alum card, but I never really enjoyed either the Lanche or Real Chili.

Oh f*ck no...

https://www.kake.com/story/40941588/set-your-air-conditioning-to-78-degrees-during-the-day-82-at-night-federal-program-suggests

"Energy Star, a program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, said people should set their thermostat to 78 degrees when they are home and "need cooling" in an effort to save energy during the spring and summer.

And when you're sleeping or away, the suggested temperatures go up. When sleeping, it's recommended that the thermostat is kept at 82 degrees, and when away, people should set the thermostat to 85 degrees, Energy Star said."

I guaranty you that the people running Energy Star do not set their thermostat to 82 at night.

Nooooo, not the Hamrock. This was my go-to spot when I lived on 22nd.

Looking at those pictures, it honestly should have been demolished years ago.

Color me shocked that the floors and walls were sagging. Probably from the all of the people peeing on the floor.

Love AC and we keep it at 78 24/7 in humid Virginia. Grew up in a house in the Chicago burbs without AC. Kept all the windows open and heard the arguments in the kitchen in the house next door. They really would go at it, but the all-time classic was when we heard "YOU PUT THAT KNIFE DOWN RIGHT NOW!"
