When reheating something in the toaster over/oven, in this case half of a sub, do you put the food in as soon as you turn on the oven or wait until the oven is done preheating?

Just blew my wife's mind by putting the food in at the same time I turned on the oven like I violated some major social norm.

We never preheat our toaster-oven. Stuff we cook in there -- gourmet foods like Tater Tots and reheated pizza -- comes out fine.

For reheating something, you don't need to preheat. You don't even need to preheat if it is something that bakes for a long time, like a roast or a meatloaf.

Cookies or other pastry, yeah, preheat that thing. A consistent temperature is key to their success.

Yep. I preheat for stuff like cookies and banana/pumpkin bread. Most everything else goes straight into the oven as soon as it's on.

Preheating for leftovers makes no sense, since you're just reheating, and not really baking or roasting.

All of these responses confirm why I do 95% of the cooking in our house

Always preheat and wait for baked goods. A lot of that stuff is so finicky.

Is there a single person below the age of 60 who looks for numbers in the yellow pages in 2021?

Putting my recycling bin between the mailbox and home was a big life improvement.

Dang it, why didn't I think of that.  About 5 weeks ago I threw the phone book in the recycling bin on the way back from the mailbox

That works for the all-paper ones, but I have gotten some that have plastic-ringed spines and laminated ad pages that I don't think are recyclable.

I'm trying to imagine bolting a recycle bin to my house, and then bolting a mailbox on it.  The recycling truck would destroy my porch.

Guess is underwear, more specifically, from Tommy John.

Initially read that as "from Theo John" and thought "good on him"

mu_hilltopper

Right you are, Brew.

Who pays $37 for a pair of underwear?

I'm not sure I would pay $37 for ten.

Worth every penny. Certain things in life are worth being particular about. Things that are in routine contact with the nether regions (underwear, toilet paper, etc) are at the top of that list.

Duluth Trading Buck Naked

I spent a lot of years wearing whatever was cheap at TJ Maxx. A couple years ago a started trying different brands and styles. Settled in Duluth Trading Buck Naked. I'm not sure I'll ever spend $37 per pair, but I am willing to pay a premium. Duluth Trading has regular sales, but they are still quite a bit more than the TJ Maxx special. Absolutely worth it.

P.S. My wife bought me a pair of Tommy John's (not the $37 ones) and they had holes within a year. They were comfortable, but they didn't last at all.

Have had good luck with Armachillo's.
Pair of Thieves are comfy.  Will have to see how they hold up.
32° from Costco have held up well.
Under Armour feel weird to me.

For me, the less cotton, the better.   Doesn't wick as well, ergo more chafing.  Doesn't hold its shape.
